Experience some of the best game viewing in East Africa. From Kenya's Masai Mara through to Tanzania's Ngorongoro Crater and the vast plains of the Serengeti, all in 9 breathtaking days!
Day 1: Nairobi
Wednesday. Welcome to Nairobi! We’ll be there to collect you at Nairobi Airport. Your first night will be spent at our pre-expedition campsite. There will be a pre departure meeting at 17.00. Overnight - Nairobi
Day 2: The Great Rift Valley
Nairobi - Masai Mara. we climb the escarpment to our first stop, a viewpoint overlooking a section of the spectacular Great Rift Valley. Descending into the Rift Valley, we enter Masai land where these habitual pastoralists are often seen tending their cattle from the side of the road. Passing through the town of Narok we reach our campsite (which is just a stone's throw away from the reserve) in time to enjoy the sunset over the Masai Mara. Overnight - Masai Mara N.P. (D)

Day 3: Masai Mara N.P.
On day 3 enjoy a memorable game drive through Kenya’s most famous natural attraction - the Masai Mara National Reserve, on the look out for the Big Five! If travelling between July to October you may be lucky enough to witness the incredible annual migration of the wildebeest and zebra. After breakfast on day 4 we make the journey back to Nairobi. Day 4: Nairobi
Masai Mara - Nairobi. Heading out of the Masai Mara we travel back into the surrounding Masai Land area where we may still catch a glimpse of the game that has migrated into the this region. The Masai Mara National Reserve is unfenced and so it’s common to see some wildlife migrating through this ‘buffer’ zone. Departing in the morning, we reach Nairobi in the late afternoon. Days 5 - 6: Arusha & Karatu
Nairobi - Arusha (Tanzania). On day 5 we depart Nairobi and head into neighbouring Tanzania, to a campsite in Meserani on the outskirts of Arusha. On the morning of day 6 we visit the Meserani Reptile Park and Masai Cultural Museum before travelling via the Masai town of Mtu Wa Mbu (Mosquito River) that lies adjacent to the Lake Manyara National Park and then up the Rift Valley Escarpment to picturesque Karatu. Karatu offers magnificent views over the surrounding hills and has many well established wheat farms that add to the picturesque panoramas. Overnight - Meserani (1) Karatu (1) (B:1, L:2, D:2)
Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater
Karatu - Ngorongoro Crater - Serengeti. We depart early to reach Ngorongoro Crater, which is a vast and unbroken volcanic crater ring. Thanks to a permanent water and pasture source, the crater floor plays host to nearly every species of African animal. Zebra, buffalo, black rhino and wildebeest graze amongst the predatory lion, cheetah and hyena. After our game drive in the Crater, we head down the crater rim and past the ‘Cradle of mankind’ before we reach Serengeti National Park. Crossing vast plains we game drive through the southern and central areas of the park. Tonight we camp out in a campsite without fences, surrounded by the African wilderness! Day 8: Serengeti N.P.
Serengeti - Arusha. In the morning, we head off for another game drive and explore the landscape in search of the resident game. With some luck, we may see some of Africa’s ‘Big 5’! Following our morning drive, we retrace our journey back across the plains and along the lush Crater rim to our truck at Arusha, where we spend the evening musing over our thrilling wildlife experience Overnight - Arusha (B, L, D)
Day 9: Nairobi
Arusha - Nairobi. This morning we have some time to spend in Arusha before joining a shuttle bus transfer for the drive back to Kenya, and onto Nairobi, where our trip comes to an end on arrival in the city centre. Arrival into Nairobi is usually in the afternoon, but may be delayed by traffic or the border crossing so we recommend booking any onward travel for the following day. (B)
