Uganda uncovered - Take an incredible journey deep into the heart of the African jungle, in search of the mighty mountain gorillas - our closest living relatives, and relax by beautiful Lake Bunyoni.
Day 1: Kampala
Wednesday. Welcome to Uganda, a small country of striking beauty. Its landscapes vary from the fertile green areas around the northern shores of Lake Victoria to the snow capped Ruwenzori Mountains in the west and the semi-desert region in the north. We’ll be there to collect you at Entebbe Airport and transfer you to our accommodation in Kampala. Tonight a pre departure meeting will be held at 17:00. Overnight - Kampala
Days 2 - 5: Lake Bunyoni & Gorilla Trekking
Kampala - Lake Bunyoni. From Kampala we drive to Lake Bunyoni, the deepest Crater Lake in Africa and home to a large and varied number of beautiful birds, which is the base from which the optional Gorilla trek takes place. Dependant on where trekking permits are available, we trek in the Magahinga or Bwindi National Parks in Uganda, the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo, or the Ruhengeri National Park in Rwanda.
We depart from our base in Bunyoni in small groups over 3-4 days, depending on the group size. We wind our way through arguably some of the most picturesque scenery in Africa en-route to the National Park. Dependant on where permits are available, we may spend a night in either Kisoro or in Rwanda. The following morning, after packing our picnic lunch, we are transferred to a ranger’s station where the trek commences. Your rangers will lead you through the cultivated lands and then into the dense rain forest and on to a gorilla family. Trekking can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 8 hours and it can be quite strenuous. To ensure the gorillas do not get too used to the presence of humans and because they share many of our genes (and therefore able to catch our diseases), the maximum time permitted to spend with them is 1 hour. You will have plenty of time to watch their activity and to take photographs. The rangers will be able to provide you with a background to the family you are visiting. Once your hour is up, you trek back out of the rain forest to your meeting point where you will be transferred back to the Lake Bunyoni campsite. Overnight - Lake Bunyoni (B:3, L:4, D:4)

Gorillas in the Mist - 6 days
Hi Charlie,
I have just returned from my month working in Kampala and bring back great memories of my Gorillas in the Mist safari. 22nd. june 2011. The trip was amazing, fantastic travelling truck, leader, cook, driver and food. Brilliant camp site ( I upgraded to a cottage) and other trips, Rwanda, orphanage, village trek, canoe trip..... Stunning scenery. And just chilling out. The gorilla trek was awesome, we saw a family of 17 very close to, playing , eating and grooming . A once in a life time experience. Even though most of the group were over 30 years my junior they were a great crowd and we all got on very well. A great holiday

Hi Kelly
Just thought I would let you know that the Gorillas in the Mist tour was awesome. We travelled into the DRC to see the gorillas and were lucky to see a family of 20 – very active. The truck, guide, driver and cook were all really good. Campsite at Lake Bunyongi was excellent!
Thanks for your help – and will definitely recommend On the Go to other travellers

All crew were great , as was the group from day one. Doing the gorilla trek was excellent, as was the variety of the itinerary, the activities and the value for money. Couldn't fault it!
