The Smoke that Thunders

Day 1: Victoria Falls

Welcome to Victoria Falls! On arrival at Victoria Falls Airport in Zimbabwe you will be met and transferred to Lodge. We will take you on a sunset cruise.

Day 2: Victoria Falls

Zimbabwe is home to arguably the world’s most beautiful precipice, UNESCO-listed Victoria Falls. Victoria Falls, described by the Kololo tribe living in the area in the 1800’s as ‘Mosi-oa-Tunya’ - ‘the smoke that thunders’, is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. This morning we will take you on a guided tour of the Falls, from both the Zimbabwean and Zambian sides. The afternoon is at leisure, for you to pick what activities you want to do from the many options available in this adventure town!

Day 3: Victoria Falls - Chobe N. P.

We will transfer you to Chobe National Park and get you checked into the lodge. Later this afternoon we will take you on a game drive.

Day 4: Chobe N. P.

We have a morning game drive and in the afternoon we have a sunset cruise on the Chobe River. Here we can watch elephants, hippos, lions, crocodiles and a variety of birds and more without having to even reach for our binoculars!

Day 5: Chobe N. P. - Moremi G.R.

We will transfer you to Kasane Airport for the flight to Gunns Camp (light aircraft). We pick you up from the airstrip and take you to the camp. Whilst at Gunn's Camp, all meals and drinks, all game drives, park fees and sunset cruises are included.

Day 6: Moremi G.R.

All meals and drinks, all game drives, park fees and sunset cruises are included.

Day 7: Moremi G.R. - Johannesburg

Light Aircraft transfer from the camp to Maun for flight to Johannesburg Luggage limit: 20kg in a Soft bag ONLY. The flight leaves Maun at 14:50 and arrives into Johannesburg at 16:30.

Day 8: Johannesburg - Kruger N.P.

Today, we transfer you down to Kruger National Park (approx 5.5 hrs). It’s said that Kruger has the greatest variety of wildlife in Africa. Lion, elephant, leopard, cheetah, giraffe are present as are a profusion of herbivores. Established in 1898 to protect the wildlife of the South African Lowveld, this national park of nearly 2 million hectares, is unrivalled in the diversity of its life forms and a world leader in advanced environmental management techniques and policies. It’s here that one can (hopefully!) view the Big Five in abundance. Get your cameras ready!

Day 9: Kruger N.P.

Early this morning and later this afternoon you head off in open vehicles into the park in search of Africa’s Big Five. Keep those cameras ready! If you would like to get up close and personal with the animals you might want to arrange an optional guided walk with armed rangers.

Day 10: Kruger N.P. - Port Elizabeth

Today we transfer you to Hoedspruit airport and fly to Port Elizabeth. Upon arrival at the Airport we will meet you and transfer you to the hotel in Port Elizabeth.

Day 11: Port Elizabeth - Addo

We will transfer you to Addo this morning and arrive at the lodge in time for lunch. The drive to the Addo Elephant National Park will depart at 14h00 from the Hotel. On this drive you can expect to see large herds of elephants, both young and old moving to and from the waterholes, lions, hyena, buffalo, eland, Bushbuck and much more. Snacks and drinks will be served at one of the alightment areas in the park. You will return to the Hotel at 18h30 for dinner.

Day 12: Addo

Breakfast at Zuurberg Mountain Inn. Depart on a half hour drive to the Elephants. This is the ultimate elephant experience which includes an appoximate 45 minute elephant ride, a 1 hour guide walking trail following these gentle giants through their natural habitat going past the waterhole where the elephants may be tempted to swim. You will end the experience back at the reception where you will have the opportunity of feeding the elephant. Return to the Hotel for a late lunch. Afternoon at leisure. Enjoy dinner at Zuurberg Mountain Inn.

Day 13: Addo - Cape Town

We will transfer you to Port Elizabeth airport for the flight to Cape Town. On arrival in Cape Town we will transfer you to the hotel. We commence with a cable car trip up the legendary Table Mountain for spectacular views of the Mother City and the surrounding peninsula. (weather permitting; cable car fee not included), Back in the city itself, we visit the well preserved Company Gardens, the S.A. Museum, the Castle of Good Hope and the vibrant and arty flea market, Greenmarket Square. We also take a trip through the colourful and picturesque Malay Quarter known as Bo-Kaap.

Day 14: Cape Town

This is an awe-inspiring tour to the towering headland known as Cape Point. Magnificent beaches, breathtaking views, historic and picturesque coastal villages are to be seen along the way. The Cape Peninsula is one of the world’s most scenic areas and stretches from the City centre to Cape Point.

Day 15: Cape Town

Transfer from Hotel to Cape Town Airport for your departing flight.
