A short drive today takes you to Hwange National Park, located in the northwest corner of Zimbabwe, approximately on hour south of Victoria Falls. This former royal hunting ground was named after a local Nhanzwa chief and it is the largest Park in Zimbabwe. It is an area of great beauty, comprising of salt pans, acacia scrub and wide grassy plains, supporting great herds of buffalo and elephant, all the Big Five and excellent birding. The next 2 days are spent game driving here with night drives being a highlight. There are also opportunities to do walking safaris or just relax by the pool.
Leaving Zimbabwe behind, journey into Botswana and the Chobe area. Viewing game is possible in various forms including game drives, bush walks, night drives and boat safaris. The Chobe National Park is to the north of the country and is home to the largest elephant herds in the world. This Park boasts four distinctly different eco systems: serondela with its lush plains and dense forests in the Chobe River area to the northeast, the Savute Marsh in the west and the Linyanti Swamps in the northwest, with the hot, dry hinterland in between. 3 days are spent exploring this amazing area.
