Day 1:

Ruhengeri Welcome to Rwanda and the start of your African Adventure! Upon arrival into Kigali Airport you will be met by our representative and transferred to your accommodation for check in. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Overnight Volcanoes Virunga Lodge.

Day 2:

Ruhengeri to Kigali After an early breakfast you will be driven to the Volcanoes National Park to be allocated a gorilla tracking group. Around 7am, you will be briefed before being transfered to the trail head for the start of a truely memorable experience. Your rangers will lead you into the dense rain forest and on to a gorilla family. Trekking can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 8 hours and it can be quite strenuous. To ensure the gorillas do not get too used to the presence of humans the maximum time permitted to spend with them is 1 hour. You will have plenty of time to watch their activity and to take photographs. After the trek drive back to Kigali for hotel check in. Overnight Kigali Serena Hotel.

Day 3: - Nairobi

Kigali to Nairobi This morning, transfer to Kigali airport for your flight to Nairobi (not included). On arrival you will be met by our representative and given a short safari briefing before being transferred to the Girraffe Manor. This afternoon is at your leisure to visit the AFEW Giraffe Centre, founded in 1979 as a breeding centre for the endangered Rothschild Giraffe. Overnight Girraffe Manor.

Day 4: Nairobi - Masai Mara N.P.

Today you will be transferred to Wilson Airport for your short flight to Masai Mara - departing at 10:00am. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your camp for lunch. You will spend the next four nights in this natural paradise among zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, buffalo, elephant, antelope and gazelle. You will encounter prides of lion resting in the shade of acacia trees or lying low in the tall grass, in wait for their next prey. There is a good chance of spotting cheetah and if you are lucky, the shy leopard. Overnight Ngare Serian.

Days 5-7: Masai Mara N.P.

Over the next 3 days you will enjoy morning and afternoon game drives. Included during your stay is exclusive use of the vehicle for game drives, fly-camping, guided walks & The Nest tree-house, river fishing, sundowners, picnics & bush meals and transfers within the Mara North Conservancy. You may chose to take a balloon safari across the Masai Mara (pay locally) to experience a game-viewing adventure with an entirely different perspective. As you silently float across the plains, forest and rivers for approximately an hour, your journey comes to end back on land but accompanied with a fully cooked champagne breakfast. Day 8: Masai Mara N.P. - Serengeti N.P.

After breakfast you will be transferred to the airstrip with picnic lunches for your short flight to Migori, departing at 11:30am. You will be picked up from Migori airstrip at 12:15am and driven to Tarime Airstrip for your flight to Kogatende airstrip, departing at 14:30pm. You will arrive at 14:50pm and will be met by a Lemala Camp Vehicle and guide and will enjoy a game drive on route to Lemala Tented Camp. Overnight Lemala Tented Camp.

Days 9-11: Serengeti N.P.

Over the next 3 days you will enjoy full day game drives in the Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti is famous for its enormous concentration of game (especially the big cats) and for the annual migration of millions of wildebeest, zebra and Thomson’s gazelles. The abundance of plains game in this area is truly astounding. The Serengeti is Tanzania's oldest and most popular national park, also a world heritage site and recently proclaimed a 7th world-wide wonder. There will be some great photo opportunities so have your camera ready. Overnight Lemala Tented Camp.

Day 12: Serengeti N.P. - Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast depart with picnic lunches and drive to Kogatende airstrip for your flight to Manyara, departing at 09:45am. On arrival at 11:20am you will be met by our representative and transferred to Lake Manyara National Park for a short game drive. Lake Manyara is a scenic park which is only 330 square kilometres in area, of which about 230 square kilometres are lake. The park contains a large variety of habitats: the rift wall, the ground water forest, acacia woodland, areas of open grassland, the lake shore, swamp, and the lake itself. Late this afternoon drive to Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge for check in and dinner. Overnight Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge.

Day 13: Ngorongoro Crater

Imagine a giant bowl teeming with wildlife, in the middle of the African bush and you are close to an idea of the Ngorongoro Crater. Thanks to a permanent water and pasture source, the crater floor plays host to nearly every species of African animal. Zebra, buffalo, black rhino and wildebeest graze amongst the predatory lion, cheetah and hyena. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the last remaining areas in Tanzania where you can see the endangered Black Rhino. Depart today with a picnic lunch and descend down in to the crater floor for a full day of game driving. Late this afternoon you will visit a Maasai Village enroute back to your lodge. Day 14: Ngorongoro Crater - Johannesburg

Drive back to Arusha today, stopping at the Shanga House for lunch. After lunch you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro airport for your onward flight (not included) Upon arrival into Johannesburg you will bet met at the door of your aircraft. You will be assisted through immigration, baggage collection and customs and shown to your airport hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Overnight City Lodge OR Tambo Airport.

Day 15: Johannesburg - Victoria Falls

Catch a flight from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls (not included) You will be met at the airport and transferred to Ilala Lodge, the rest of the day is at your leisure. Situated in Victoria Falls town in Zimbabwe, the boutique Ilala Lodge is the closest hotel to the falls and has views of the “smoke” of Victoria Falls. Victoria Falls town is home to an endless number of activities from white water rafting, canoeing, helicopter flips, elephant back safaris, canopy tours and adventure slides, river cruises, and golf, there is something for everyone. Day 16: Victoria Falls

Enjoy a 2 hour tour of the falls today. It is a truly awe-inspiring experience. No photograph can begin to depict the reality and nothing prepares you for your first sight. You will be accompanied through the Rainforest by a qualified Guide, who will give a brief history of the Falls and the surrounding flora, fauna, bird and wildlife. Raincoats and camera protective bags are provided when needed. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. Overnight Ilala Lodge.

Day 17: Victoria Falls

You will be transferred to the nearby Masuwe Estate, where your Walk With the Lions experience begins with an introductory talk on the African Encounter Lion Rehabilitation Program and a safety briefing. You are then shown to a designated area to meet the lions and their handlers and enjoy the unique and exhilarating experience of walking alongside and interacting with the lions for approximately 90 minutes. The morning walk includes a full English breakfast on the deck. There are strict age and height restrictions to be aware of before embarking on this excursion. Overnight Ilala Lodge.

Day 18: Victoria Falls - Chobe N. P.

This morning you will be transferred to Kasane Immigration and then on to Ichingo Chobe River Lodge. Located on Impalila Island on the Namibian side of the Chobe River, the lodge is a beautiful secluded tented lodge, hidden beneath the riverine forest. The Meru-style safari tents with private balconies and en-suite facilities are shaded by Jackalberry Trees with canvas walls incorporating gauze windows. From its unique geographic location that allows boat access to over 100 kilometres of prime water on the famed Chobe and Zambezi Rivers, guests can enjoy game viewing by boat, fishing, bird watching and guided walks. Day 19: Chobe N. P.

Today you will board the Ichobezi Safari Boat where you will experience a river safari like no other. Cruise and explore the rivers, channels and floodplains of the Namibian waters of the Chobe River. Each safari boat has four cabins on board with big picture windows that make you feel like you are part of the river. Each cabin is en-suite with a flush toilet and shower. The upper deck provides the ideal way to view unbelievable wildlife in complete comfort. Here there is a lounge, bar, open-air dining area, sun deck, plunge pool and staff of five including a tender boat and guide. Overnight Ichobezi Safari Boats.

Day 20: Chobe N. P.

Activities to enjoy while on board your safari boat include tiger fishing (catch and release, safari boats are fully equipped), bird watching, guided walks and awesome photographic opportunities. Wildlife encounters are remarkable with huge herds of elephant coming down together to drink along with an array of other game such as buffalo, giraffe, lion, waterbuck, kudu and impala so have your camera ready. Evenings are unforgettable as you witness one of Africa’s most spectacular sunsets in the company of herds of elephant and a cool sundowner. Overnight Ichobezi Safari Boats.

Day 21: Chobe N. P. - Johannesburg

After disembarking from your Safari boat, you will be transferred from Kasane Immigration to Victoria Falls Airport. Take to the skies with a flight to Johannesburg (not included) Your accommodation for the night – The City Lodge Hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of the terminals of Johannesburg’s O.R. Day 22: Johannesburg - Sabi Sands Reserve

Fly to Kruger Mpumalanga Airport (not included) You will be met on arrival and transferred to Londolozi Founders Camp, a luxury five star safari lodge. The camp is located in the central region of the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve that shares unfenced borders with the Kruger National Park. Founders Camp is peacefully positioned under the shade of ancient Ebony and Matumi trees, along the banks of the Sand River. A touch of bush bohemia and the use of light fabrics gives this camp a young and vibrant energy. There is a lounge, bar and deck that extends onto the river bank for prime wildlife viewing and completes the laid back, easy luxury atmosphere. Overnight Londolozi Founders Camp.

Days 23-25: Sabi Sands Reserve

Enjoy guided nature walks and morning and afternoon game drives over the next 3 days. The Sabi Sand Reserve is the oldest of all the private reserves in South Africa, formed in 1934. Sharing a 50km unfenced border with the Kruger National Park, this immense (65 000 hectare) reserve is home to The Big Five. Two rivers supply the game reserve with a valuable water source which ensures that this area enjoys one of the highest and most bio-diverse wildlife populations of any area in Africa. The Sabi Sand Reserve enjoys good quality viewing of the elusive leopard, as well as elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, zebra and a vast variety of antelope and other species. Day 26: Sabi Sands Reserve - Cape Town

Transfer back to Kruger Mpumalanga Airport for your flight to Cape Town (not included) You will be met on arrival and transferred to More Quarters Apartment Hotel, a collection of stylish one and two bedroom apartments situated in the suburb of Gardens in the heart of Cape Town. A “home away from home” atmosphere the apartments are located in a quiet street away from the tourist hub it is still within easy walking distance of a variety of boutique stores, restaurants and bars, and Cape Town’s iconic Table Mountain. The rest of the day is at your leisure to explore the area, complementary transfers are available between More Quarters and the V & A Waterfront. Overnight More Quarters.

Day 27: Cape Town

Enjoy a half day city tour of Cape Town which includes the Houses of Parliament, the Castle (South Africa’s oldest building), the lively Greenmarket Square, the Company Gardens and Table Mountain, which provides spectacular views over the city and Peninsula (cable car fee is not included as it is weather dependent and usually closed for annual maintenance from the last week of July - Mid August). As you come back down from the mountain, make a stop at Bo-Kaap, home to the Cape Malay community, with its cobbled streets and brightly coloured houses. From here you can be dropped off at either the Waterfront to experience this vibrant location at your own pace, or at your hotel to end the tour. Overnight More Quarters.

Day 28: Cape Town

Enjoy a full day Winelands tour which takes you to the heart of South Africa's wine industry, Stellenbosch, steeped in South African history, canal-lined avenues and beautifully preserved historic buildings. With the sheer vastness of wine estates on offer, we are spoilt for choice when we enjoy our first wine tasting of the day. Continue on to Franschhoek, billed as the Gourmet Capital of South Africa, enjoy a wine tasting before taking time to enjoy lunch at one of the many award winning restaurants (lunch not included). Our last stop for the day is a wine estate on the Paarl wine route. (Alternative estates may be visited over weekends and public holidays) Overnight More Quarters.

Day 29: Cape Town

Embark on a full day tour of the Cape Peninsula taking in the beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay, before crossing over to Hout Bay, where you may choose to join an optional boat cruise to Seal Island. From here drive to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve via Chapman’s Peak, one of the world’s most breathtaking coastal drives. You will board a funicular to get to the top of the Peninsula to witness the symbolic meeting of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans and enjoy spectacular views over False Bay. Continue to Simonstown, the naval base, and visit the African Penguin breeding colony at Boulders Beach. Our final stop is the world-renowned Kirstenbosch Gardens. Overnight More Quarters.

Day 31: Cape Town - Franschhoek

Transfer to the picture-perfect town of Franschhoek which was founded by the French Huguenots in the late 1600’s and still retains its French charm in its café lined streets and small boutique atmosphere. Surrounded by the dramatic Groot Drakenstein Mountains, it is home to internationally acclaimed wines from nearby estates such as La Motte, Moreson and Graham Beck and is also a culinary capital in South Africa, boasting numerous award winning restaurants. Centrally located, La Fontaine Guesthouse is a gracious old home with spectacular mountain views. Set in a country garden, one street back from the atmospheric Huguenot Road, Franschhoek’s main attractions are an easy stroll away. Overnight La Fontaine Franschhoek.

Day 32: Franschhoek

Today is at your leisure. Perfectly located, from La Fontaine you can walk to the nearby restaurants, shops and galleries. The surrounding valley offers wine tasting, golf, hiking, horse-riding and cycling. A stroll along Franschhoek’s little streets will showcase wonderful examples of quaint South African country homes. Day 33: Franschhoek

Today your arrangements come to an end with a departure transfer to the airport in time for your onward flight. This marks the end of your holiday with us in Africa. We truly hope you will have had a great time, collecting many wonderful memories of this beautiful continent.
