Welcome to Kenya! We will meet you at Nairobi airport and transfer you to the domestic airport for the flight to the Masai Mara (departing at 10:00 and arriving at 11:00). On landing, you will be met and transferred to Karen Blixen Camp. In the afternoon you will have a game drive.
Rise early and take the option of a balloon safari across the Masai Mara. Take off in the crisp morning air, only to experience a game-viewing adventure with an entirely different perspective. As you silently float across the plains, forest and rivers for approximately an hour, your journey comes to end back on land but accompanied with a fully cooked champagne breakfast. The day sees more game viewing both in the morning and late afternoon. For the bird lovers there are over 450 species that have been identified in the Masai Mara Ecosystem.
Full day game drive. Today you will set off on a full day’s game drive taking a picnic lunch. You will have more time to explore a larger area of the Masai Mara, with its various landscapes, from savannahs, forests, dry river beds and rocky kopjes, all of which offering a better environment for a whole range of animals. Your picnic lunch will be enjoyed in a scheduled spot in the reserve among the wildlife.
You will have an early morning game drive before being transferred to the airstrip for the flight to Nairobi (11:00 - 12:15). You will remain in the transit lounge, for the flight to Kilimanjaro (12:40 - 13:35). You will be met by our local representative and your professional driver/guide and taken to the hotel.
We spend the morning on a game drive through Tarangire National Park with its shimmering acacia sands, old baobab trees, Masai tribes and herds of elephant. In the dry season of July - October, Tarangire National Park surpasses the Serengeto on terms of animal concentration as big herds begin to congregate around the Tarangire River. In the afternoon we continue on to Karatu and our lodge in the Ngorongoro Highlands.
Today you will set off on a full day game drive taking a picnic lunch with you. You will have more time to explore a larger area of the Serengeti, with its various landscapes, from savannahs, forests, dry river beds and rocky kopjes, all of which offering a better environment for a whole range of animals. Your picnic lunch will be enjoyed in a secluded spot in the park among the wildlife. Return to your lodge in the late afternoon, in time to enjoy a relaxing sun downer
Enjoy a full day game drive in Serengeti National Park, The time span of the objects recovered date from 2,100,000 to 15,000 years agofor a full day game drive in Serengeti National Park. Between the Ngorongoro Highlands, Lake Victoria and Tanzania’s northern border with Kenya stretches one of the world’s last great wildlife refuges - the Serengeti. The Serengeti’s 14,763 square kms contains about three million large animals, most taking part in seasonal migrations, unparalleled in nature.
After breakfast depart for Ngorongoro Crater, with a final Serengeti game drive en-route. There will be a stop at the Olduvai Gorge to visit the site where Mary and Louis Leakey first discoved the remains of Zinjanthropus Bosei, a distant ancestor of man believed to be 1.8 million years old, Australopithecus Bosei, the ‘Nutcracker Man’, a species that became extinct about 1 million years ago and fossilised footprints that date back 3.6 million years. Through this discovery Tanzania has become known as the ‘cradle of mankind’.
Today you will depart for the Ngorongoro Crater, descending into the crater floor itself, for a game drive. Spend the morning exploring this fascinating wildlife amphitheater. Home to nearly 25,000 animals, which remain in the crater due to the constant supply of water from the springs. There is a very good chance of spotting the big five: lion, elephant, endangered black rhino, buffalo and leopard plus countless other African mammal species. This caldera, formed by a volcano sinking, hosts a unique cross-section of eco-systems, from Soda Lake to savannah and is home to almost every major species of African mammal. After a picnic lunch you return to your lodge.
Today we head back to Arusha for the flight to Zanzibar (14:00 - 15:20). On arrival we will transfer you to the hotel.
Spend the next three days at leisure, relaxing on the beautiful white sands and soaking up the sunshine. For those feeling active, there's a wide range of excursions available locally. Perhaps opt for a spot of snorkelling or scuba diving to see the incredible coral reefs teeming with exotic fish and perhaps the odd dolphin in the azure waters.
Sadly, your African adventure comes to and end today. We will transfer you to Zanzibar airport in time for your departure flight.
