Day 2: Nairobi - Amboseli

Your first day on safari starts with a drive to Amboseli National Park. The park is famed for its large herds of elephants and the stunning views of Kilimanjaro which lies just over the border in Tanzania. Ol Tukai Lodge is the perfect base from which to explore this magnificent green park. After lunch under the acacia trees you can discover for yourself on a game drive what makes Amboseli so special, arriving back at the lodge in time to enjoy your first refreshing drink of the evening and watch as Kilimanjaro melts away behind the sunset.

Day 3: Amboseli - Lake Naivasha

Today you will leave Amboseli and head back north to Nairobi, arriving in time for some lunch at the Karen Blixen Coffee gardens in the beautiful and leafy Karen district. After lunch we will hit the road again to make our next stop. Running through Kenya the Great Rift Valley is the setting for several lakes which attract safari goers and bird enthusiasts alike. Lake Naivasha has a booming flower farming industry and is also a tranquil safari setting. Our stop for the night is Naivasha Simba Lodge, which sits in lush green gardens and has views down to the lake. After settling in you could explore the grounds before high tea, which is followed by dinner.

Going in for a swim

Day 4: Lake Naivasha

The second great lake you will visit on your tour is Lake Nakuru, situated in the middle of the national park to which it gives its name. Teeming with wildlife the park has so much to offer. At certain times of the year the entire lake is covered in flamingos, turning the whole area pink. Lions, buffalos as well as many rhinos call this corner of Kenya home and a game drive around the park is always rewarding. If you are lucky you may even spot a leopard relaxing in a tree beside the lake. After a game-packed day you will arrive back at the Naivasha Simba Lodge in time to enjoy an evening boat ride exploring the lake shore in more detail (boat ride at additional cost).

Lioness relaxing in the late afternoon

Day 5: Lake Naivasha - Masai Mara N.P.

Leaving the Great Rift behind today you will drive to Kenya’s famed Masai Mara. The setting for the Great Migration, countless wildlife documentaries and, of course, the Big 5 the Masai Mara is the highlight of the safari. The Mara Simba Lodge will play host to you over the next couple of days while you experience the magic of the Masai Mara for yourself. The adventure begins as soon as you arrive at the park gates and go straight into your first game drive as you make your way to the lodge. Arriving at the lodge, lunch will be prepared for you and there will then be time for an afternoon siesta or perhaps a dip in the pool. An evening game drive is on offer.

Lion in the Masai Mara

Day 6: Masai Mara N.P.

Today, if you want to catch the animals at their most active, you will get up at sunrise. Fingers crossed, you may even spot a leopard, the most elusive of the Big 5. After your game drive breakfast is served overlooking the gardens and the park. Following this you can choose to spend the morning relaxing or else visit a local Masai village to get a better understanding of their culture and way of life. Following lunch, in the late afternoon, you will be offered the chance to go on one final leisurely game drive. As it’s your last evening on safari you can choose to spend a little longer out there, perhaps finding a spot facing the sunset from which you can toast your Kenyan adventure.

Masai warrior jumping

Day 7: Masai Mara N.P.

Your last sunrise in the Masai Mara shouldn’t be missed and is best enjoyed with a cup of hot coffee or tea on your veranda. After a great final breakfast you will be driven back to Nairobi, stopping beside the Rift Valley for one last photo before you are dropped off in Nairobi at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
