Day 1: Mt. Kilimanjaro & Moshi

Welcome to incredible East Africa! Arriving into Kilimanjaro International Airport after clearing custom and immigration our local team awaits to transfer your family to the Marangu Hotel - Enjoy a briefing on the upcoming adventure through Tanzania.

Day 2: Mt. Kilimanjaro & Moshi - Kilimanjaro - Marangu Route

After breakfast you will be collected from the lodge and transferred to Marangu gate. The actual hike begins at the Marangu Gate (1800 m). Hike 3 to 5 hours through a fascinating rain forest to Mandara Hut (2700 m). Blue monkeys are sometimes seen. Look for a tiny flower called Impatiens Kilimanjaris; endemic to Kilimanjaro. Hot lunch en-route. If you wish you can hike up to Maundi Crater (45 min) or rest upon arrival at Mandara Hut. Afternoon tea. Dinner and overnight at Mandara Hut (BLD)

Day 3: Kilimanjaro - Marangu Route

After breakfast start hiking slowly to Horombo Hut (3700 m). Leave the last glade of forest and follow the gently ascending path through the open alpine moorland. Today’s hike takes 5 to 7 hours. Hot lunch en route. The altitude begins to make itself felt cautioning you to walk slowly. “Pole pole” (slowly slowly in Swahili) is the order of the day while enjoying the flora and long view. Giant Senecios stands tall along the path. Kibo and Mawenzi Peak can be seen on a clear day. Afternoon tea, dinner and overnight at Horombo Hut, (BLD)

Day 4: Kilimanjaro - Marangu Route

Hike slowly (6 hours) to Kibo Hut. Today leave moorland and enter the alpine desert past giant lobelia and walk on the saddle between Kibo and Mawenzi Peak. Hot lunch along the way. Afternoon tea, dinner and overnight at Kibo Hut, (BLD)

Day 5: Kilimanjaro - Marangu Route

Start around 1 a.m., reaching Gillman’s Point (5685 m) at sunrise. The path from Kibo to Gillman’s is the most demanding 4 hours on the whole climb. Continue another 2 hours to the roof of Africa, Uhuru Peak (5895 m). Descend to Kibo Hut for hot lunch then to Horombo Hut. Meals and overnight at Horombo Hut, (BLD)

Day 6: Kilimanjaro - Marangu Route - Mt. Kilimanjaro & Moshi

You will hike back to the Marangu gate and park's headquarters. At Marangu gate you sign your name and details in a register. This is also where successful climbers receive their summit certificates. Those climbers who reached Gillman's Point are issued with green certificates and those who reached Uhuru Peak receive gold certificates. Meet by a driver guide with packed lunch and drive back to Marangu Hotel take a hot shower and celebrate.

Day 7: Mt. Kilimanjaro & Moshi - Lake Manyara N.P.

This morning well rested you will be collected and driven to Arusha in time for a hearty lunch. After, you will be driven to Lake Manyara National Park where you will enjoy a game drive. Check into your hotel in the evening (OVERNIGHT AT THE Escarpment Lodge)

Day 8: Lake Manyara N.P. - Serengeti N.P.

After breakfast drive to Serengeti National Park (250km, 5 hour). You will pass through the forested slopes of Ngorongoro, before the predator rich plains of the Serengeti un-furl before you. Continue your journey to your camp with some excellent game viewing opportunities en-route. You will stop for a picnic lunch, before arriving at the Serengeti Sopa Lodge.

Day 9: Serengeti N.P.

There’s nothing like an early morning start to experience one of the most ultimate game viewing sessions. After a hot drink you will soon be wide-awake as you watch wildlife in its most active time on your morning game drive. After picnic lunch in the plains, enjoy more game driving in search for more wildlife viewing and experiences. As the evening light approaches back at the hotel, you will be thoroughly rewarded with all your game spotting with sundowners.

Day 10: Serengeti N.P. - Ngorongoro Crater

Say goodbye to the enchanting Serengeti National Park and hello to another natural wonder, the Ngorongoro Crater. This incredible formation is part of the larger Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which covers more than 8300 square kilometres. The actual crater is 260 square kilometres and 620m deep. The drive there is considered one big game drive so sit back and enjoy, cameras at the ready! Picnic lunch will be enjoyed en-route, check into your hotel in the evening.

Day 11: Ngorongoro Crater

To experience the crater without the crowds you will rise early for a full day game drive. Reaching the crater floor as the sun begins to rise, you will undoubtedly be amazed at this natural phenomenon before you. The Ngorongoro Crater is home to about 25,000 animals and is one of the last places in Tanzania where the Big Five can be seen. Enjoy a picnic on the edge of one of the crater’s lake as you watch elephants quench their thirst from afar. Returning in the evening for sundowners at the hotel.

Day 12: Ngorongoro Crater

We leave the Ngorongoro Crater after breakfast and head back to Arusha in time for lunch. After lunch we transfer you to Kilimanjaro International airport for your flight home.
