The Smoke that Thunders

Day 1: Victoria Falls

Welcome to Victoria Falls and the start of your African Adventure! Upon arrival at Victoria Falls airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel (shared transfer). The remainder of the day is at leisure. With its welcoming small town atmosphere Victoria Falls is home to a seemingly endless number of activities - there is literally something for everyone. White water rafting, canoeing, helicopter flights, elephant back safaris, river cruises, golf and bungee jumping (book locally). An impressive array of arts and crafts is showcased by talented local artists in the open air curio market as well as at a number of gallery's and shops throughout town.

Days 2-3: Victoria Falls - Hwange N.P.

Take a private transfer to Hwange Main Camp where you will swap to a shared transfer out to the Hide. The Hwange National Park is located in the northwest corner of Zimbabwe approximately one hour south of Victoria Falls. The former royal hunting ground was named after a local Nhanzwa chief, and it is the largest Park in Zimbabwe occupying roughly 14,650 square kilometres. This is an area of great beauty, comprising of salt pans, acacia scrub and wide grassy plains, supporting great herds of buffalo and elephant, all the Big Five and excellent birding. The next 2 days are spent game driving here with night drives being a highlight. There are also opportunities to do walking safaris or just relax by the pool.

Days 4-5: Hwange N.P. - Chobe N. P.

Leaving Zimbabwe behind, journey into Botswana and the Chobe area (shared transfer to Victoria Falls town, private transfer to Chobe Safari Lodge). Activities offered include game drives in the Chobe National, game viewing river cruises and local village visits. The Chobe National Park is to the north of the country and is home to the largest elephant herds in the world. This Park boasts four distinctly different eco systems: serondela with its lush plains and dense forests in the Chobe River area to the northeast, the Savute Marsh in the west and the Linyanti Swamps in the northwest, with the hot, dry hinterland in between. 2 days are spent exploring this amazing area.

Day 6: Chobe N. P. - Victoria Falls

Journey back to Victoria Falls today (shared transfer) where you embark on a 2 hour tour of the falls and the surrounding area. You’ll walk through the rainforest, learn the history of the Falls and get soaked in the massive spray. Raincoats and protective bags are provided. Victoria Falls reaches its zenith in about May each year. It is a truly awe-inspiring experience - the sight, the sound, the smell and the humbling feeling that here indeed is nature's supreme masterpiece. No photograph can begin to depict the reality and nothing prepares you for your first sight.

Day 7: Victoria Falls

Your tour with us comes to an end today, you will be transferred to Livingston Airport for your departure flight (private transfer). We will see you again shortly for your Tanzania Wildlife Week Lodge Safari.
