Africa Visa Requirements

A number of our tours to Africa start in Nairobi and it is recommended that all travellers starting their expedition in Nairobi get their Kenyan visa issued prior to departure to avoid complications.

PLEASE NOTE: visas for Mozambique can no longer be obtained on the border - you must get your visa in advance if you need one.

If a holder of a British, EEC, Australian, New Zealand or Canadian passport, many visas can be procured en route at the border.

Although we update the visa section on our website as changes to requirements come to light, requirements can change suddenly so do check individual status with your appointed travel agent, direct with the embassy or high commission or with a reputable visa handling company. African countries are in a continual state of political flux and requirements can change overnight. Visa procurement remains the responsibility of the traveller and not that of on the go.

Please Note:

Please ensure that your passport has at least 12 free pages if undertaking any expeditions of 57 days or less.
Please also be sure your passport possesses at least 12 months validity beyond the date of your return from Africa.
Importantly, if there is a big dissimilarity between your passport photo and your appearance now, apply for a new passport and avoid possible problems at border frontier points.
RSA (South Africa) passport holders may need to obtain more visas in advance of arrival compared with passport holders of other countries such as the UK or Australia. If an RSA passport holder, please check your personal visa requirements carefully. Some countries may deny you entry, if you don’t possess a visa obtained in advance of your proposed entry.
