Early this morning we depart Cape Town for Oudtshoorn and spend an exciting afternoon at the Cango Caves before retiring to our accommodation. The Cango Caves are a series of caves, made up of a succession of underground holes and enclosures, which can be explored on a guided tour (bookable locally).
Today we drive over the stunning Outeniqua pass down to the coast. We pass through the small coastal towns of George, Wilderness, Sedgefield and Knysna. Our destination for the day is Plettenberg Bay, the jewel of the Garden Route, with its sweeping unspoiled golden beaches and dramatic rocky peninsular.
Today we take a day trip to the Tsitsikamma National Park, a beautiful 80km long coastal strip between Nature’s Valley and the mouth of Storms River. You have your own private guide today. Enjoy a guided walk through the park or enjoy some free time – the choice is yours!
A leisurely departure takes us from Plettenberg Bay to a private game reserve near Mossel Bay, arriving early afternoon. Set against the beautiful backdrop of the Langeberg Mountain Range, we go on an afternoon game drive to spot some of the wildlife that Botlierskop Game Reserve has to offer. After the game drive we head to our lodge.
This morning we leave the lodge and follow the coastal route towards Hermanus. Known as the heart of the whale coast, this coastal resort offers the best land based whale watching in the world. We explore Hermanus including land-based whale watching (in season - July - December) and visit a winery for some wine tasting. There is also time for an optional extra of Shark Cage Diving for anyone who feels brave enough! From Hermanus we drive to Betty’s Bay where we visit the penguins at Stony Point. Our Garden Route adventure ends in Cape town this afternoon.
