Nosy Be & Nosy Sakatia Holidays

15 km away from the north-western coast of Madagascar lies the 321 km² large island Nosy Be. Here you can still discover a little paradise, which has been spared of mass-tourism. Climb on Mount Lokone (450m) or Mount Passot (350m) and you will be able to see Nosy Be in all its beauty: its jagged coasts, the numerous bays and lovely coves, the deserted beaches and the crystal clear water.

The amazing underwater world of Nosy Be offers excellent snorkelling and diving opportunities and the nearby islands are well worth a trip, where you can watch the 5,000 black lemurs that roam the islands and eat delicious fruits from wild growing lemon, orange, bananas, papayas and mango trees.

Nearby is Nosy Tanikely, a marine reserve offering world-class snorkelling and diving. The best beaches in the area are Andilana and Amporaha on Nosy Be itself and on the private islands Tsarabanjina and Nosy Iranja. Some of the fauna of Nosy Be is remarkable, two for their small size, the world's smallest frog and chameleon. Visit the Lokobe Reserve located south east of Nosy Be. Nosy Sakatia (Orchid Island) is a small lush island, a short boat trip from Nosy Be offering excellent snorkelling, diving and moderate hiking.

The first inhabitants of Nosy Be, before the arrival of the Sakalava, who represent the most numerous ethnic group on the island, belonged to small bands of Antankarana and Zafinofotsy.
