Eco Egypt departs 5th September
If you are watching your carbon footprint and are bent on your holiday making a difference then this is the trip for you! Our 10-day Eco-Egypt tour combines touring of Egypt’s classic sights with the opportunity to make a real difference to the local people and environment. We spend time volunteering at both a local orphanage and a women’s co-operative in one of the poorest communities in Cairo, as well cleaning up the Nile from one of our traditional Felucca sailing boats. Half of the proceeds of this tour also go to our “Change for Children” initiative which directly benefits underprivileged children in Egypt.

  22 October Sun Festival – Abu Simbel, Egypt 
A twice yearly event held in honour of King Ramses II. The temple at Abu Simbel has been finely and carefully oriented so that the sun’s rays align and illuminate the inner sanctum of the temple twice yearly; on the date of Ramses ascension to the throne (22 February) and on his birthday (22 October). This incredible phenomenon provides for a most spectacular sight which has come to be known as the Sun Festival of King Ramses II. Crowds pack into the temple before sunrise and watch the shafts of light slowly creeping through the rock hewn inner Hypostyle Hall (replete with further statues of the king) and through to the Sanctuary. Significantly, the sun illuminates statues of Amun-Re, Re-Herakhte and the deified Ramses, whilst the statute of Ptah - the god of darkness - remains in the shadows.
