Day 1: London
Thursday 24 April 2014. An early start this morning as we meet at St Pancras Station in London for our Eurostar departure. Our train departs at 8.04am, therefore please meet your First Festival Tour Leader at St Pancras (opposite the ticket boarding gates) no later than 7am to collect your ticket.

The journey from London to Lille takes 1.5 hours - relax in the bar, or just enjoy the scenery! Once in France, we head down to The Somme where many of the ANZACs fought and lost their lives during World War 1.

We have local historian guides on board our coaches while we visit the various sites in and around the Somme area including The Australian Memorial Villers-Bretonneux and Caterpillar Valley which is the main New Zealand site in the Somme.

Later this afternoon, we head over to our accommodation in Ypres for check in, followed by free time in the evening. Overnight - Ypres
Day 2: ANZAC Day
Up early this morning [approx 5am] for the ANZAC Dawn Service at Buttes Polygon Wood. After the Dawn Service we head back for breakfast with the dignitaries before joining the NZ and Australian Embassy officials at our respective country's ANZAC Memorial services. Later this morning we join together again for the march to the Menin Gate for the combined ANZAC service.

After a break for lunch in beautiful Ypres, we meet for another afternoon touring this historic region with our local historian guides. We visit Essex Farm cemetery where there is a memorial to John McCrae who wrote the well known poem ‘In Flanders Fields’, plus a visit to a German cemetery for a different perspective.

Later this afternoon we head back to Ypres, where you can attend the Last Post service at the Menin Gate Memorial at 8pm. This evening is at leisure. Overnight - Ypres (B)
