Vic Falls to Jo'burg
Day 1: Victoria Falls Welcome to Victoria Falls! Airport arrival and transfer to hotel. There is a pre departure meeting today at 17.00. Overnight Victoria Falls.
Day 2: Victoria Falls Relax at the adrenaline playground of Victoria Falls. Bungee anyone? Today is spent relaxing or participating in a myriad of Optional Excursions. AT 1700 metres wide and around 100 metres high, Victoria Falls are one of the most memorable sights on this African safari. All year round, flights can be taken in fixed wing planes, micro lights or helicopters. Back on the ground, the falls can be seen from the Victoria Falls National Park with its many viewing points or from the Zambian side. All offer fantastic photographic opportunities. White water rafting in the Batoka Gorge is considered to be world class. Besides the excitement of the grade 5 rapids, there are the "floats", where there is time to admire the scenic cliffs and occasional wildlife on the riverbanks. Overnight - Vic Falls.
Day 3: Victoria Falls - Chobe NP - all meals After breakfast we cross the border into Botswana and head to Kasane where we set up camp on the banks of the Chobe River. The Chobe River forms a border between Botswana and Namibia and Zambia. Chobe is one of Botswana’s premier game parks, renowned its large elephant herds. The late afternoon sees us take a boat cruise along the Chobe River. Elephant, hippo and many bird species can be viewed from the boat while we watch another glorious African sunset. Overnight - Chobe NP.
Days 4-7: Chobe NP - Maun (for Okavango Delta) - all meals To Maun, our base camp for the optional 3-day/2-night Okavango Delta excursion. In mokoros (dugout canoes) replete with skilled polers, our crafts will glide through the waterways of the flora and fauna rich wetlands of the Delta, the largest inland waterway on earth. Overnight (2 or 4) - Maun, (2 - if undertaking optional excursion) - Okavango region.
Day 8: Maun - Francistown - all meals An early start sees us head for a late afternoon arrival in Francistown. Francistown grew out of the gold mining boom in the late 1800s. Today it is a shopping mecca, and it is here we stock up on our supplies for the next few days. Overnight - Francistown.
Day 9: Francistown - Polokwane - all meals Crossing high and lowveld, we drive through the Northern Province of South Africa and overnight at a campsite, before nearing Kruger NP tomorrow. Overnight - Polokwane.
Days 10-11: Polokwane - Hazyview (for Kruger NP) - breakfast Today, we continue to Kruger NP. Our Hazyview camp, located a stone’s throw from Kruger offers good facilities. On day 9 there is the opportunity to take an evening safari in the Kruger. On day 10, we spend a full day exploring Kruger. One of the most famous parks in the world, Kruger covers an area of 21,497 sq. km and is home to myriad mammalian and reptilian species, not to mention more than 500 species of birdlife. Overnight (2) - Kruger NP region.
Day 12: Kruger NP - Johannesburg - breakfast Packing up camp, we continue by road to Johannesburg. Our late afternoon arrival in the city marks the end of our journey.
