Available on day 9 of our Deserts, Palaces, Ganges; Highway to Himalayas and Delhi to Darjeeling tours and also to anyone wanting to take a walk on the wildside, is an excursion to Panna National Park. Situated in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh at a distance of around 40 km from Khajuraho, Panna national park is home to some of the best wildlife species in India. Offering a combination of teak and dry mixed forest interspersed with grassland areas, the park is renown for its wild cats, including tigers and leopards as well as deer, antelope, langur monkey and sambar. The park also supports wide variety of birdlife, including a host of migratory birds. It is possible to see white necked stork, barheaded goose, honey buzzard, king vulture, blossom headed parakeet and paradise flycatcher to name bit a few avian species.

Established in 1955 and sprawling over an estimated 400 sq. kms, Ranthambhore National Park is one of India’s most scenic parks. Steep crags embrace a network of lakes and rivers, and on top of one of one of these hills, is the impressive 10th century Ranthambhore Fort. Terrain fluctuates between impregnable forests and open bush land. For a relatively small area, the park offers a rich diversity of fauna and flora including Bengal tiger, sambar, chital, nilgai, wild boar, leopard, sloth bear and myriad birdlife.
