This holiday is also offered in reverse. Start with a Samba in Rio and end with a Tango in Buenos Aires!

Day 1

Welcome to Argentina and the start of your adventure! Upon arrival into Buenos Aires you will be met and transferred to our joining hotel. Known as the ‘Paris of South America’, Buenos Aires is a beautiful city full of lovely green parks, plazas and wide boulevards and an exciting night life. This evening our group welcome meeting takes place.
Overnight: Buenos Aires

Day 2

Buenos Aires - Colonia de Sacramento. Today we leave Buenos Aires and head to Uruguay. The charming riverside Colonia de Sacramento in the southwest of the country is our first destination and the UNESCO listed barrio historico, or old city, is the perfect place to explore the numerous museums and churches.
Overnight: Colonia de Sacramento

Day 3

Today we head to the capital of Uruguay, the time-warped city of Montevideo. With its 1930s buildings and cars, the city offers plenty of interesting architectural styles, historic houses and museums. For shopaholics, the outdoor and indoor markets are perfect for shopping whilst the port and seaside are a treasure trove of steak and seafood restaurants.
Overnight: Montevideo

Day 4
Salto

After one night in Montevideo we continue on to the beautifully presented town of Salto, a centre for growing and processing citrus fruits. The town centre is beautifully kept and there are several delightful parks you can stroll through. A popular excursion is to the nearby Salto Grande dam and hydroelectric plant. We have time to soak in the nearby hot springs or visit the aqua park
Overnight: Salto

Day 5
Crossing into Argentina

Today we cross the river and the border to the prosperous city of Concordia in Argentina before taking an overnight bus to the port city of San Ignacio Mini.
Overnight: Overnight Bus

Day 6
San Ignacio Mini

We travel by bus to the Jesuit ruins at San Ignacio Mini, which were featured in the film "The Mission". Built in 1696, these are some of the best kept Jesuit ruins in the region and show how the Jesuits lived when they came here to convert the indigenous Guarani to Catholicism. The location, together with the nearby missions of Santa Ana and Loreto, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Overnight: San Igancio Mini

Days 7-8

We head for our included ranch tour this afternoon at Estancia Las Mercedes, an authentic working ranch. We will be welcomed with light snacks while our hosts tell tales of the history of the ranch. We will then be treated to an included lunch prepared on a traditional Argentine barbeque, including beef, chicken and local sausages. Delicious salads and local produce will also be served, along with delicious desserts. Argentine wines and beers will be available at additional cost. You will have free time to explore the ranch, relax by the pool, wander around the gardens or take a horse ride or canoe excursion with a local guide (excursions not included).

Crossing into Brazil we reach Foz do Iguaçu, our base for visiting the famous Iguazú Falls the most magnificent waterfalls in the world. Unlike most other waterfalls that have just one or two cataracts, at Iguazú there are 275 cataracts in a 3 kilometre long U shape that we will visit from both the Brazil and Argentinean sides. Visiting the Argentinean side of the falls will give you a completely different perspective from the Brazilian side. Here you may board a speed boat which will take you under the falls soaking you from head to toe - an adventure you'll never forget! On the Argentine side you'll also find the famous "Devil's Throat" where fourteen falls drop with such force that there is always a massive cloud of spray overhead.

On the Brazil side you can see the falls by walking through the rainforest and along boardwalks above and below the rushing water or, for a bird's eye view a helicopter flight is on offer (optional). You can also visit the world's largest hydroelectric dam at Itaipu (optional) where you can learn more about the ecological issues faced during the dam's construction. There is also a very interesting bird park nearby - perfect for that must-have photo with a toucan!
Overnight: Foz do Iguacu  |  Breakfast x 1, Lunch x 1

Day 9

Today we take an overnight bus to the university town of Curitba, an attractive and exceptionally well-planned city with many pleasant squares and parks.
Overnight: Overnight Bus  |  Breakfast

Day 10

Today we have a whole day in the intriguing town of Curitiba - why not jump on a sightseeing bus or head out on the Serra Verde scenic train?
Overnight: Curitiba

Days 11-12

Curitiba - Sao Paulo. Continuing to the sprawling metropolis of Sao Paulo we can enjoy an optional visit to a snake farm and the Latin American Exhibition Centre, designed by famous architect Oscar Niemeyer. Wind up the day with some sushi in the Japanese quarter. Surprisingly, São Paulo has the largest population of Japanese outside of Japan.
Overnight: Sao Paulo  |  Breakfast x 2

Days 13-14

Sao Paulo - Paraty. After two nights in Sao Paulo we follow the stunning coastline north to colonial Paraty. This old pirate town has streets made of stone slabs designed to let the tide wash over and clean them. Explore the nearby beaches and local hippy markets or opt for a full day boat cruise around the bay where you can spend time swimming or simply relaxing on the deck whilst enjoying a fresh seafood lunch.

We spend two nights in Paraty before heading to the fantastic Rio de Janeiro. Explore this colourful Brazilian city by taking a cable car up Sugar Loaf Mountain and Corcovado, the famous statue of Christ, for great city views or head to the legendary beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema.
Overnight: Paraty  |  Breakfast x 2

Day 15

Paraty - Rio de Janiero. Today we make the final leg of the journey as we head to fantastic Rio de Janeiro! There are trips up Sugar Loaf Mountain by cable car and Corcovado, with its famous Statue of Christ, for great city views. You can also wander around the cobblestone streets of the hill-top neighbourhood of Santa Teresa. A walking tour of Rio's historic buildings is also a lovely way to pass an afternoon, or you may like to visit the Botanical Gardens or one of the famous beaches, such as Copacabana, Ipanema or Leblon. If you are in Rio de Janeiro around February/March get ready for the world's biggest party, the Rio Carnival.
