Day 1: San Jose

Welcome to Costa Rica and the start of your amazing adventure. We'll be there at the airport to greet you and transfer you to your hotel in San Jose where the remainder of the day can be spent at leisure.

Day 2: San Jose

After breakfast enjoy a morning city tour of San Jose immersing yourself in the rich Costa Rican culture and history by experiencing the beautiful museums and historical sites of San José. The tour begins with an orientation drive through the beautiful Sabana Park. Next, take a walking tour through the historic National Theatre. Completed in 1897, the theatre is a masterpiece in art and architecture. The afternoon offers free time for you to explore San Jose at your leisure.

Day 3: San Jose - Manuel Antonio

This morning a shared transfer will take you from San Jose to the village of Manual Antonio, perfectly placed for visits to the wonderful Manual Antonio National Park. Located on the Pacific Coast south of San Jose, the park is a stunning combination of expansive white sand beaches and lush evergreen forest. The remainder of the day is free for you to enjoy your hotel's facilities.

Day 4: Manuel Antonio

Today is a free day for you to make the most of the activities and experiences on offer in the Manuel Antonio National Park. You might want to snorkel around the colourful offshore reefs, explore the canals of the park by kayak, try a canopy zip line, mountain biking, horse riding or much more.

Day 5: Manuel Antonio - San Jose

Enjoy a final leisurely morning in Manuel Antonio. After lunchtime you will transfer back to San Jose in a shared coach. Spend the evening enjoying Costa Rica's cosmopolitan capital city.

Day 6: San Jose - Bosque de Paz Biological Reserve

After breakfast join a group tour to the Poas Volcano National Park. Considered by many to be one of the most breathtaking sites in the entire country, the Poas Volcano sits amongst various habitats and life zones which make up the Poas Volcano National Park. Poas remains one of Costa Rica's largest and most active volcanoes. This fact alone is enough to attract thousands of visitors per year. After the tour you will be transferred to the privately-owned Bosque de Paz Biological Reserve, home to a staggering array of birdlife.

Day 7: Bosque de Paz Biological Reserve

Today is free for you to enjoy the many activities offered by your eco-lodge in the Bosque de Paz Biological Reserve. Explore the numerous trails, visit beautiful waterfalls, try a relaxing yoga class or head out with a pair of binoculars to see what makes this area so special - the hundreds of birds that call this place home.

Day 8: Bosque de Paz Biological Reserve - San Ramon

The morning is free for you to continue with activities offered by the lodge or simply explore the reserve at your leisure. In the afternoon a private transfer will take you to San Ramon - one of the larger Central Valley coffee towns set in a picturesque valley enclosed by lush and fertile mountains.

Day 9: San Ramon

Today you are free to do as you like in San Ramon. The Alberto Manuel Brenes Biological reserve is close by and provides hiking and birding for outdoor buffs, as well as several volcanoes scattered along the Central Volcanic Mountain Range which even have majestic waterfalls hidden in the dense forest. Other options include canopy tours, horse riding, spa days or visiting the neighbouring towns of Grecia, Sarchi, Zarcero and Naranjo.

Day 10: San Ramon - La Fortuna

Today you head to one of Costa Rica's most iconic sites - the Arenal Volcano. This large, symmetrical volcano is built upon layers of ash, rock and lava, and at 5,437 feet it stands high above the rest of the countryside. After nearly 400 of years of inactivity, Arenal began erupting in 1968 when it exploded and buried over 15 sq km of land in rocks, lava and ash. That eruptive cycle took pause in 2010 when the volcano entered into an indefinite resting phrase.

Day 11: La Fortuna

Spend today at leisure exploring the Arenal Volcano National Park with plenty of opportunities to discover the local flora and fauna. The area is popular for its many hot springs so why not spend the evening relaxing in the therapeutic waters?

Day 12: La Fortuna - Monteverde

This morning your journey from the town of La Fortuna and the Arenal Volcano National Park brings you to Lake Arenal where you will board a boat that transfers you to the other side where you will continue by road to the town of Monteverde, popular for its proximity to the cloudforests of Monteverde and Santa Elena (shared transfers).

Day 13: Monteverde

Take a guided naturalist walk in the Monteverde Cloudforest Biological Reserve, home to wind-sculpted elfin woodlands tat give way to rainforests where tall trees – festooned with orchids, bromeliads, ferns, vines and mosses – rise high into the sky. Later in the evening appreciate the night life of the area with a night walk tour. Whether by day or by night the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve will astound visitors with its beauty, bounty and great amount of biodiversity.

Day 14: Monteverde

Today your exploration of the region's remarkable natural bounty continues with a guided visit to the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve, a lush garden of mosses, ferns, flowers and epiphytes growing thickly on every tree. Here, dangling roots and vines sweep across the trails, while the sounds of birds and other creatures echo throughout the forest.

Day 15: Monteverde - Guanacaste

After breakfast you will be transferred to the beautiful region on Nosara in Guanacaste. On arrival check in to your hotel, home for the next six nights.

Days 16-20: Guanacaste

The next few days are free for you to do as little or as much as you please. Explore the region's many different beaches, each with their own individual character, or opt to partake in some of the many activities on offer including yoga and fishing.

Day 21: Guanacaste

Today marks the end of your incredible Costa Rican adventure. After breakfast and hotel check out we will transfer you to the international airport in San Jose in time for your onward departure flight.
