Today is the start of your Chinese adventure. We will meet you at the airport and transfer your through the hustle and bustle that is Beijing where you can look in wonder out the window as a new world passes you by until we reach your hotel. On arrival we will check you in and you will have the remaining to time at your leisure.
Today, set out to sightsee the nation’s capital. Tiananmen Square is a square for the public and also home of the mausoleum of Chairman Mao Tse-tung. Across the way is the Forbidden City. A vision in grandeur with it’s imperial yellow roofs and vermilion walls. Later on we visit Shaolin Kungfu Training School . This evening, enjoy a dinner at a city restaurant.
Today, travel beyond Beijing to Jinshanling, where you can walk on the Great Wall. Following a ridge of barren hills through northern China, it stretches as far as the eye can see - at least 6,700 kms!
Beijing - Xi’an. Visit Silk Alley markets and the Summer Palace with its UNESCO-listed imperial gardens, located on Kunming Lake. Tonight catch an overnight sleeper train to Xi'an.
Xi’an is perhaps most famous for the discovery of Emperor Qin’s Terracotta Warriors. Discovered in 1974 by local farmers digging a well. No two faces are alike – each is said to be an individual portrait. Today, we visit the archaeological site of the Terracotta Warriors, Huanqing Hot Springs, a scenic spot in the shadow of Li Mountain and a workshop where crafts people make clay warrior replicas.
Today, we visit Xi’an’s city symbol, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, first built in AD652 to hold sutras collected in India by a wandering monk. An awesome sight, the City Wall is over 15 km in perimeter and we embark on a bike ride (solo or tandem). A legacy of the Silk Road, we visit the Muslim Quarter and later fly south to Guilin. Onward transfer to Yangshuo.
Renown for it’s striking scenery, Guilin and Yangshuo are often the subject of many Chinese paintings. Today, we take a 2 hour rafting cruise along the calm clean waters of Yu Long River. The remainder of our time in Yangshuo is spent at leisure. Choose to hike, hire a bicycle or motorbike and head off on one of the many mountain trails.
Today you have more free time at your leisure, there are still a variety of things to do in the breath taking surroundings. Stop to watch the local fishermen use their trained cormorants to catch fish - a centuries old tradition. Time can also be spent exploring West Street. Maybe take a beginners art class with a local painter or enjoy a morning class at the ‘Cloud 9’ cooking school.
After breakfast we take a 90 minute drive to Longsheng on arrival we'll check into the Li An Lodge after a freshen up we walk the rice terraces of the Dragon’s Backbone. Beginning at the base of Mt Longji the verdant green rice fields coil up the steep mountain, layer upon layer, climbing to its summit.
After breakfast we will transfer to the airport in Guilin for your onward flight to Shanghai. On arrival we will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. The remainder of the day you have at your leisure.
This morning after breakfast you have a full day of sightseeing which will include the awesome Oriental Pearl TV tower, the Jade Buddha Temple, charming Yuyuan Gardens and the Bund and Old City. This evening, enjoy a cruise on the Huangpu River.
Today you have a free day to shop until you drop or take in all the entertainment that this city has to offer or wander the streets and see what you can find.
Today is the end of your Chinese adventure, after breakfast we will transfer you to the airport for your onward flight home.
