This morning we have free time to relax and explore before you will be met at your hotel and taken to the China Science and Technology Museum for the Afternoon. The Museum is made up of two buildings displaying Chinese technology both ancient and modern- such as gun powder and astronautics. We also take a visit to the Bell Tower and view the Water Cube before returning to the hotel for a free evening.
Today we visit the Ming Tombs and the Sacred Way. The Ming Tombs are a group of mausoleums of some thirteen Ming emperors, their empresses and concubines, representing China’s finest example of imperial tomb architecture. There are three tombs usually open including that of Ding Ling, the longest reigning Ming emperor and the only burial chamber to have been fully excavated. During excavations of Ding Ling’s tomb in the 1950s, archaeologists were stunned to discover treasures of the emperor whose rule began the downfall of the Ming Dynasty. We also visit Wangfujing shopping markets before a transfer to the airport for your homeward bound flight. ( Hotel available for use until departure flight)
