Today we drive out of the city to Badaling, where we can walk a section of the Great Wall. Some sections are fairly steep, but the walk on the vast wall is one of those ‘must do’ experiences! We visit the tombs of the Ming emperors and a cloisonne workshop, where we’ll see firsthand the unique Chinese art of combining copper and enamel.
Free day until we transfer you to the train station for the overnight train to Xi’an.
Discovered in 1974 by local farmers digging a well, the 2,200 year old Terracotta Warriors comprise more than 7,000 life-sized soldiers standing battle-ready in excavated pits under the cover of a modern protective hanger. Today, we visit the archaeological site of the Terracotta Warriors and a workshop where clay warrior replicas are made. Tonight why not add on our Tang Dynasty bolt-on and experience a musical and dance extravaganza!
Today, we visit the city symbol, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, before enjoying a leisurely bike ride on Xi’an’s medieval City Wall, which dates from the Ming dynasty. We then visit the local Muslim Quarter.
You will have a free day, until we transfer you to the train station for the overnight express train bound for Shanghai.
We will pick you up from the train station and transfer you to the hotel.
