Arriving into Beijing Airport, you will see our friendly local driver and guide waiting to meet, greet and drive you to your hotel. Today, recoup after the long flight, if you did however fancy a walk the Temple of Heaven is very close by and has wonderful surrounding park.
Today you will set out to sightsee the nation's capital, starting with Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Tiananmen Square - home to the Monument of the People's Heroes and many important events in Chinese history - most notably the 1989 Student Protests. The Forbidden City - so called as it was only visited by people on Imperial business up until 1911 - is a vision in grandeur with yellow roofs, vermilion walls and the innermost sanctum of Beijing. This afternoon you will walk through the city's many temples, grand halls and courtyards before visiting the inner sanctum of the Temple of Heaven later today.
Today we take a journey outside of the city to the most famous wall in the world - the Great Wall of China. Here, we take a walk or maybe even a climb on our chose section of this world renowned wonder. Returning to the city in the afternoon, we head over to explore the nooks and crannies of the Summer Palace and it's UNESCO listed imperial gardens on the shores of Kunming Lake.
This morning we focus on the Beijing 2008 Olympic legacy with a guided visit to the iconic Birds Nest Stadium. We then set off to the station and catch the thrilling High Speed train to Shanghai. This train is mind boggling in that it covers a distance of 1318 KM in under 5 hours! Arriving into spectacular Shanghai, meet our local guide and driver who will see you to your hotel.
Today we explore many of the city’s top spots - Yu Gardens and Bazaar- Shanghai’s finest traditional garden, the Bund, Pudong and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the Jade Buddha Temple and the Old districts.
Today, you journey by high speed train to an oriental Venice – ancient Suzhou, interwoven by a series of canals and pretty waterways. Enjoy the day with your guide taking in the scenic town and having a wander along it’s many pretty streets not to mention a cruise on the Grand Canal, an insightful visit to the Humble Administrators Garden and a tour around a working silk factory.
Our day begins with exploring the Shanghai Museum with it's stunning collection of ancient Chinese art. As it is situated on the People's Square we then explore this before heading off to wander Nanjing Road and nearby markets.
Sadly your journey through the Orient has come to an end, we will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight home.
