This morning, we embark on a guided sightseeing tour of the nation’s capital. Tiananmen Square is essentially the heart of Beijing. Heading back a few centuries we step into the Forbidden City, the walled city of the former Chinese emperors. Continuing on we pay a visit to the Temple of Heaven and if you have the energy enjoy a stroll in the surrounding park.
Today, we drive beyond Beijing to Badaling, where we can walk a section of the famous Great Wall, built during the Ming Dynasty. We then head back too Beijing but first visiting the Tombs of the Ming Emperors. Back in Beijing we visit the Summer Palace and explore it's lavishly decorated temples, halls and courts, reconstructed in 1902 at the whim of the extravagant Dowager Empress Cixi.
Enjoy a free day to explore the city. This evening your local guide will transfer you to the train station for the sleeper train to Xian.
Arriving into Xi’an in Shaanxi Province your local guide will transfer you to your hotel. Xi'an is perhaps most famous for the discovery of Emperor Qin’s Terracotta Warriors. The 2,200 year old warriors comprise more than 7,000 life-sized soldiers which stand battle-ready in excavated pits. We tour the site and a workshop where replicas are crafted. This is followed by a visit to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda we then drive you back to your hotel.
This morning we fly to Chengdu - capital of Sichuan province - famed for its outstanding natural beauty, fiery cuisine and China’s first, largest and best known Panda research and breeding centre. On arrival at the airport your guide will meet you and take you to visit Jinli Lu street - part of the old city where an open air theatre and Sichuan Opera are performed in the evening you can opt to book and attend a performance locally if you like.
A short drive out of town takes you to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. China’s Giant Pandas are considered the most endangered mammal on the planet. Due to a loss of habitat in the Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Gansu Provinces it is estimated that there are less than 1500 giant pandas remaining in the wild - 80% of which are located in Sichuan Provence. We are then off to Leshan where you can spend some time exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Dafo (Great Buddha). We then drive back to Chengdu and drop off at your hotel.
After breakfast it's off to the airport to take the flight to Guilin. Arriving here our friendly local guide awaits to transfer you to your hotel.
This morning you pay a visit to The Reed Flute Cave here there are enchanting stalagmites, stone pillars, stone curtains and stone flowers. Then we continue on above the western bank of Li River Scenery. Here towers Wave-Subduing Hill (Fubo Hill), another of Guilin's wonderfully scenic spots enjoy time here to explore before driving back to your hotel.
Guilin and surrounds are world renowned for its striking, if bizarre scenery, vast areas of karst limestone outcrops that rise up from flat rice paddy fields. We undertake a relaxing cruise down the River Li to Yangshuo passing an endless procession of peaks and simple villages. The local fishermen use trained cormorants to catch fish and local village boys paddle out to the river boats with all manner of souvenirs. Arriving into Yangshuo your local guide will assist with transfer and check into your hotel.
To say the least Yangshuo is breathtaking, here you have many options of activities that you can book and pay for locally in your free time today and tomorrow such as river rafting, cave exploring, rent bicycles and explore the surrounding villages, cooking classes, calligraphy lessons and more.
Today we about 2 hours back to Guilin and then fly onward to Shanghai. Arriving here a driver awaits to take you to your hotel.
Focus your eyes on spectacular Shanghai. Perhaps China’s most modern city, its amazing Pudong skyline is stunning. We enjoy a tour of the many city sights including Yuyuan Garden, Jade Buddha Temple, Stroll along the Bund and then off to Nanjing Road where you can enjoy some shopping time.
Today, it's a short train journey to ancient Suzhou by high speed express train. The Venice like city is interwoven by a series of canals and pretty waterways. We take a cruise on the Grand Canal and visit a silk workshop. We then return by high speed express train to Shanghai with relevant transfers back to your hotel included.
Today is a free day for you to explore Shanghai.
