Day 1: Shanghai

Welcome to Sensational Shanghai and the start of your exclusive journey. On arrival into Shanghai International Airport you will be met by and On The Go Representative and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure, so you can start exploring independently or relax and rest up for the evening at the hotel.

Day 2: Shanghai

This morning with our guide we explore the Jade Buddha Temple, Yuyuan Garden, Old City area, Oriental Pearl TV tower and Shanghai Museum. We conclude the day with a walk in the Bund area and a cruise on the Huangpu River to see the city lights sum sundown.

Day 3: Shanghai

Today, you journey to an oriental Venice – ancient Zhulialiao interwoven by a series of canals and pretty waterways. Enjoy the day with your guide taking in the scenic town and having a wander along it’s many pretty streets. Return for an evening at leisure in Shanghai. Tonight you can have a booking made at one of the many cities revolving rooftop restaurants and enjoy a dinner overlooking the stunning city lights - a great way to spend your last night here.

Day 4: Shanghai - Beijing

This morning we catch the high speed train to Beijing. Sit back and enjoy the 5 hour journey as you pass interesting scenery at seriously high speeds! Arriving into Beijing, meet our guide who will take you to the hotel. This afternoon our guide will take you over to the Summer Palace with its UNESCO listed imperial gardens on Kunming Lake. This evening we will take you to see an incredible Acrobatic performance.

Day 5: Beijing

Today you will set out to sightsee the nation's capital, starting with Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Tiananmen Square - home to the Monument of the People's Heroes and many important events in Chinese history - most notably the 1989 Student Protests. The Forbidden City - so called as it was only visited by people on Imperial business up until 1911 - is a vision in grandeur with yellow roofs, vermilion walls and the innermost sanctum of Beijing. This afternoon you will walk through the city's many temples, grand halls and courtyards before visiting the Temple of Heaven later today.

Day 6: Beijing

Today you take a journey outside of the city to the most famous wall in the world - the Great Wall of China. Take a walk or maybe even a climb on some of the lesser visited parts of the wall - a much more fulfilling and intimate experience of the wall! Later on you can opt to see how they make traditional noodles and sample them afterwards. When you have walked enough of the wall - you return to Beijing for your final night there.

Day 7: Beijing - Luoyang

Early this morning we catch the 07 AM express train to Zhengzhou. Arriving here, meet our guide who will take you to explore the Chan Buddhist Temple and its famed Pagoda Forest, located on Mount Song. This temple is perhaps one of the most famous temples in the world, being the home and origins of the incredible Shaolin Monks. We then drive to your hotel in Luoyang.

Day 8: Luoyang

Today we explore the UNESCO world heritage listed 6th Century Longman Caves, etched into the cliffs along the Yi River. The 1300 caves (grottoes) were carved out by hand during the Northern Wei Dynasty and are adorned with more than 100,000 statues and images of Buddha and his disciples. Later we tour the first Buddhist temple in China - White Horse Temple.

Day 9: Luoyang - Xi'an

This morning we board the new high speed train to Xi'an (journey time approximately 3 hours). Once in Xi'an we visit the Wild Goose Pagoda, Grand Mosque and Muslim quarter and this evening have a delicious local dinner. The rest of evening is at leisure.

Day 10: Xi'an - Chengdu

Today, we visit the archaeological site of the Terracotta Warriors, Huanqing Hot Springs, a scenic spot in the shadow of Li Mountain. Then off to the airport for your flight to Chengdu. Arriving here, we transfer to the hotel where you have some down time to explore.

Day 11: Chengdu

A short drive out of town takes you to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Covering an area of over 92 acres, there is plenty of space for the Giant Pandas and for you to explore. Here, several species of rare and endangered animals to freely roam. Visiting the Panda nursery is a must, here you can get relatively close to the centre’s infant population. Afterwards you we drive back to the city where you have some free time to explore for the latter part of the day.

Day 12: Chengdu - Emei Shan

Driving to Leshan our morning is spent exploring the the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Dafo (Great Buddha), which is carved into the red sandstone face of Lingyun Hill overlooking the treacherous confluence of the Min, Qingyi and Dadu rivers below it. Driving onward take in the views from Emei Shan (Mt Emei) designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its incredible natural beauty and historical Buddhist sites. Arriving at Baoguo, located at the foot of the Mountain, we visit the Temple of Baoguo. Spend the remainder of the day exploring this delightful village, easily navigated by foot.

Day 13: Emei Shan - Chongqing

This morning we travel by cable car to the top of Mt Emei to tour the magnificent Wannian temple. The oldest structure on the mountain, its contents are stunning: three thousand tiny iron Buddhas surround a life sized enamelled bronze sculpture of Bodhisattva Puxian (the protector of the mountain) riding a gilt lotus flower astride his great six tusked white elephant. Weighing over 62 tonnes and standing over 7 metres in height the masterpiece had to be bought to the mountain top in pieces. Returning to Chengdu we catch the evening bullet train to Chongqing.

Day 14: Chongqing - Yangtze & Three Gorges

Today we travel 60KMS from the city and spend the day exploring the Dazu rock carvings situated on Mount Baoding. Later this evening we assist you embarking your Yangtze Cruise boat.

Days 15-16: Yangtze & Three Gorges

Good morning from the River Yangtze! At 6340km in length, the Yangtze is the 3rd longest river in the world, neatly dividing China into north and south and wending its way through eight very different provinces. The Gorges are a breathtaking sight! Sit back and enjoy cruising the river for today and tomorrow. Whilst cruising, shore excursions are offered at no additional expense to Shibaozhai and Shennong stream, with its unique scenery and four natural gorges. Drift serenely along the stream in small, open ‘pea pod boats’, looking out upon lush greenery, jagged peaks and ancient villages of the Tujia people - one of the local ethnic minorities.

Day 17: Yangtze & Three Gorges - Guilin

We disembark from our cruise in Yichang late this morning and then head to the airport for your flight to Guilin. Arriving here, we transfer you to your hotel.

Day 18: Guilin

This morning we pay a visit to The Reed Flute Cave Within the cave there are enchanting stalagmites, stone pillars, stele, stone curtains and stone flowers. Then we continue on to Elephant Trunk Hill Located at the confluence of the Taohua (Peach Blossom) River and the Li River. The afternoon is free for you to explore at leisure.

Day 19: Guilin - Yangshuo

This morning your Li River cruise departs from downtown Guilin for a full days excursion. The 90 Km Li River cruise is the centerpiece of any trip to northeastern Guangxi Province. Gorgeous Karst peaks give you surprises at each bend of the limpid river under the blue sky. Bear witness to rural China as peasants reap rice paddies, school kids and fisherman float by on bamboo rafts. Arriving into Yangshuo, we will transfer you to your hotel.

Days 20-21: Yangshuo

Spend today and tomorrow at leisure here in scenic Yangshuo. Choose to hike, hire a bicycle or motorbike and head off on one of the many mountain trails or stop to watch the local fishermen use their trained cormorants to catch fish - a centuries old tradition. Time can also be spent exploring West Street. The ancient alley is laden with quirky shops, tea shops, antiques, calligraphers and art studios. Maybe take a beginners art class with a local painter or enjoy a morning class at the ‘Cloud 9’ cooking school.

Day 22: Yangshuo - Hong Kong

A 90 minute drive leads us to Longsheng, to walk the rice terraces of the Dragon’s Backbone. Beginning at the base of Mt Longji the verdant green rice fields coil up the steep mountain, layer upon layer, climbing to its summit. Taking a walk along the stone paths no more than a metre wide, we’ll pass many of the Yao and Red Yao minority women, baskets on their backs and soak up the spectacular views. The full panorama offers thousands of ribbon like terraces cascading to the meandering streams and valley floor beneath. Returning to Guilin, we travel by flight onward to Hong Kong on a LATE PM Flight, arriving here we have a driver to take you to the hotel.

Days 23-24: Hong Kong

Hong Kong free time for today and tomorrow, very easy to find your way around most signs are in English and the public transport system is fantastic so enjoy.

Today we bid you farewell with a transfer to the airport in time for your flight home.
