Day 1: Beijing
Huan ying, welcome to China and the start of your holiday! Airport arrival transfer and hotel check in.
Day 2: Beijing
Don some comfortable shoes, today as we walk the Mutianyu section of the famous Great Wall. Zig zagging some 6000 kilometres, ducking and weaving through mountain peaks and lush terrain, climbing the Great Wall is one of those ‘must do’ experiences! Tonight, we attend a Chinese acrobatic performance.
Day 4: Beijing - Datong
This morning we visit the Beijing Zoo. This after noon the 2008 Olympic Stadium commonly referred to as the ‘Bird's Nest’ and Aquatic Centre before a visit is made to the tombs of the Ming emperors, where some 13 emperors were interred. The tombs are approached via a sacred gateway and gate houses. Later today, transfer to airport for your flight to Datong, where you will be met by your guide and taken to your hotel.
Day 5: Datong
Take a guided sightseeing walk around the Yungang Grottoes (some of the first and grandest of Buddhist grottoes containing intricately carved buddhas of all shapes and sizes), Huayan Temple, Nine Dragon Wall and Shanua Temple. The Nine Dragon Wall is a 600-year-old Nine-Dragon Screen made up of glazed tiles, the 50-m ceramic wall depicts a fire breathing dragon.
Day 6: Datong - Beijing
Today you head over to the Hanging Temple and the Wood Pagoda for more sightseeing. The Hanging Temple is a sight to behold and is a structure that seriously defies gravity. Constructed on an impossibly precipitous rockface, it literally hugs the cliff. Later today, we take you to the airport for your flight back to Beijing. You will be met at the airport and transferred to you airport hotel.
