This morning, We explore the heart of Beijing including the vast Tiananmen Square where Chairman Mao’s tomb and various monuments to the people are located. Dominating the city’s heart is the Forbidden City, a centre of power for five centuries and seat of the emperors. Entering through the Gate of Heavenly Peace (replete with Chairman Mao’s portrait), we enjoy a guided walk of this old city within a city. Today we will also explore the Treasure Houses, Summer Palace with a boat cruise and the Garden of Virtue and Harmony, and the Hutongs area.
Don some comfortable shoes. Today we drive out of the city to Badaling, where we can walk a section of the Great Wall. Some sections are fairly steep, but the walk on the vast wall that snakes for thousands of kilometres is one of those ‘must do’ experiences! Continuing a short distance from Badaling, we visit the tombs of the Ming emperors. Later today we visit the Temple of Heaven where we can enjoy some time perhaps kite flying.
Today we are transferred to the airport for our flight to Datong. Upon arrival we head out to visit Huayan Temple and the peculiar wood-structured Hanging Monastery, built on the cliff at the foot of Mt. Hengshan it gives a breath-taking view of Chinese architecture. Because of the numerous pagodas in Datong it has been known as the 'City of Pagodas'. The most elaborate would have to be the Wooden Pagoda in Ying County. This pagoda is over 900 years old and is attractive for its exquisite design and delicate appearance.
Todays highlights include the Nine Dragon Screen Wall and Yungang Grottoes. This afternoon we board over overnight train to Xian.
Upon arrival we are met by our guide and transferred to the historic city wall for a leisurely bike ride to take in the surrounding city. Before visiting the Terracotta Warrior archaeological site, we visit a workshop where we see the process used to create the terracotta figurines. In battle formation, the Terracotta Warriors are one of China’s most awesome sights.
This morning we visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda - The complex of temples, pagodas and expansive gardens constructed during the 7th century offered refuge and a store house for Chinese Buddhists to translate the very important Buddhist sutras from India. We will then explore the Shaanxi History Museum, Great Mosque and the Muslim Quarter.
Today we board our flight to Huangshan. Upon arrival we are met and transferred to our hotel, remainder of today is at your leisure.
A transfer is made to the Yellow Mountain Scenic Area. Steps have been neatly carved into the mountain which rises to 1870m, for those that want to walk the easier eastern (though less scenic) route, though our excursion does includes a return cable-car journey to the scenic area.
Before our flight to Shanghai we will explore Xidi Village, Hongoun Village and Leigang. Upon arrival into Shanghai, we are transferred to our hotel, this evening is at your leisure.
This morning we are transferred to the airport for our flight to Gullin. Upon arrival we are met by our guide. Today pay a visit to The Reed Flute Cave Within the cave there are enchanting stalagmites, stone pillars, stele, stone curtains and stone flowers.
This morning your Li River cruise departs from downtown Guilin for a full days excursion. The 90 Km Li River cruise is the centrepiece of any trip to north-eastern Guangxi Province. Gorgeous Karst peaks give you surprises at each bend of the limpid river under the blue sky. Bear witness to rural China as peasants reap rice paddies, school kids and fisherman float by on bamboo rafts. After passing many world renown sights such as Elephant Trunk Hill, Pagoda Hill and more you arrive in to Yangshuo where you can explore.
this morning we enjoy a bike ride through the scenic countryside, before being transferred to our raft where we will drift from Gongnong Bridge to Aishan Bridge. Upon arrival we bid you farewell with a transfer to Guilin airport. End of services.
