Arrival transfer to your hotel. Later today, we explore the UNESCO world heritage listed 6th Century Longman Caves, etched into the cliffs along the Yi River. The 1300 caves (grottoes) were carved out by hand during the Northern Wei Dynasty and are adorned with more than 100,000 statues and images of Buddha and his disciples. Later we tour the first Buddhist temple in China - White Horse Temple.
In the wee hours of the morning we set out on foot to Peony Square to watch or partake in a little exercise. Hundreds of Chinese take their daily exercise by practising ballroom dancing, performing tai chi, sword fighting and play sports like badminton and hacky sack at the break of dawn. Boarding the morning train we travel onward to Xi’an. Afternoon at leisure to explore.
Early today we tour the Terracotta Warrior archaeological site where some 7,000 warriors stand in battle ready position and a factory demonstrating how the warriors are crafted. Remainder of today at your leisure to further explore.
This morning we fly south to Guilin. On arrival you will be transferred to the Guilin Dangai Hotel. The rest of the day is free at your leisure.
Free day with car and driver available for independent sightseeing in Longsheng and surrounding villages (a guide is also available at no extra charge). Tonight you have the options of a private Cormorant Fishing Excursion.
Renowned for its striking scenery: vast areas of karst limestone outcrops that rise up from flat rice paddy fields; Guilin is often the subject of Chinese painting. We undertake a relaxing day cruise down the River Li, with lunch on-board, to Yangshuo passing an endless procession of peaks and simple villages along the way. Arriving in Yangshuo our local guide will assist with transfer to your hotel.
Today there is free time which allows you to explore the village laden with quirky shops, art studios, calligraphers, cafes and restaurants serving up the local specialities. Maybe, take beginners art class with a local painter or enjoy a morning class at the 'Cloud 9' cooking school.
When ready our guide will drive you back to Guilin, in the evening you will be assisted to board the express sleeper train to Guangzhou.
Upon arrival in Guangzhou, you will be met off the train and transferred to another train station to continue your journey onto Hong Kong.
