Day 1: Shanghai

Welcome to Shanghai and the start of your holiday. Upon arrival you will be met by our local representatives and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of today at your leisure. Overnight Shanghai.

Day 2: Shanghai

Today take a day trip by high speed train to ancient Suzhou, a Venetian-like town with its UNESCO-listed gardens and many waterways and bridges. Here you can take a cruise on the Grand Canal, which stretches over 1,000 miles from Beijing to Hangzhou and crosses the Yellow and Yangtze rivers, constructed more than 2,000 years ago serving as China’s main North-South artery. The hive of activity comprising of boats and people both on and along the Canal offers an amazing sight and later visit a silk textile factory. Or choose to visit the Fish-Net Master’s Garden and Tiger Hill, before returning to Shanghai. Overnight - Shanghai

Days 3-4: Shanghai

A day of leisure to enjoy the sights of Shanghai independently. Perhaps take a stroll along the Bund or shop on the famous Nanjing Road. Tonight perhaps consider drinks, jazz and nibbles at the historic Peace Hotel on the Bund. Overnight - Shanghai

Day 5: Shanghai - Chengdu

Today you board your flight to Chengdu, home of the Giant Panda and capital of Sichuan province is famed for its outstanding natural beauty, fiery cuisine and China’s first, largest and best known Panda research and breeding centre. Arrive Chengdu airport and transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free for you to spend at leisure. Overnight - Chengdu

Day 6: Chengdu - Jiuzhaigou

Chengdu - Huanglong - Jiuzhaigou. This morning fly to Jiuzhaigou - a region that for centuries has been inhabited by various Tibetan and Qiang people. Tour the Huanglong Monastery - built during the reign of Ming Emperor Hongwu, it is now a place of worship for the local Tibetan, Han, Qiang and Hui people, all of which have different religious beliefs. Afterwards enjoy a relaxing stroll by the region’s famed calcium travertines. Resembling a terraced field, the travertines flow gently into a series of multi-coloured, mineral rich ponds beneath. Onward travel to Jiuzhaigou. Overnight - Jiuzhaigou

Day 7: Jiuzhaigou - Chengdu

Today is spent exploring the Jiuzhaigou Scenic Reserve. Located in the high Min Shan mountain range, the Jiuzhaigou reserve is renowned for its outstanding natural beauty. It’s home to densely growing conifers, broadleaf trees and of rare and endangered animal species such as takins, golden monkeys, Giant Pandas and white-lip deer. Ancient Chinese legend has it that the goddess Semo accidentally smashed her mirror here and the pieces that fell down the mountain formed beautiful lakes, streams and waterfalls. Afterwards, visits will be made to Pearl Beach Falls, Nuorilong Falls and Long Lake. The ever flowing cascade of Nuorilong spans an impressive 320 metres - making it the widest waterfall in all of China. Later this evening you fly back to Chengdu. Overnight Chengdu

Day 8: Chengdu

Today we tour Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding a short drive out of town. China’s Giant Pandas are considered the most endangered mammal on the planet. Visiting the Panda nursery is a must, here you can get relatively close to the centre’s infant population. The Breeding Center has achieved breakthroughs in captive breeding, has set up the largest semen and cell bank for the Giant Pandas in the world and created the first Giant Panda stud book! Afterwards, visit the Wuhou Memorial Temple, the Tomb of Wang Jian and Jinli Lu street - part of the old city where open air theatre and Sichuan Opera are performed in the evening. Day 9: Chengdu

Driving to Leshan our morning is spent exploring the the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Dafo (Great Buddha), which is carved into the red sandstone face of Lingyun Hill overlooking the treacherous confluence of the Min, Qingyi and Dadu rivers below it. It is when standing at Dafo’s huge 8m feet that you can really appreciate the scale of one of the world’s largest Buddhas. Talking numbers, his ears droop 7m, his shoulders span 28m and his nose measures a whopping 5.6m. Impressive! Afterwards we return to Chengdu for your overnight. Overnight - Chengdu

Day 10: Chengdu - Yangtze & Three Gorges

Chongqing - Yangtze River cruiser. Spend the morning at leisure before flying to Chongqing, the start point for our exciting Yangtze River cruise. Before boarding the cruise we can stroll along Chongqing’s People’s Square, in the city centre. Overnight - Yangtze River Cruiser

Days 11-12: Yangtze & Three Gorges

Yangtze River cruise. Good morning from the River Yangtze! At 6340km in length, the Yangtze is the 3rd longest river in the world, neatly dividing China into north and south and wending its way through eight very different provinces. The Gorges are a breathtaking sight! Spend the next couple of days floating along the Yangtze River passing through the magnificent Gorges. Overnight - Yangtze River Cruiser

Day 13: Yangtze & Three Gorges - Nanjing

Yichang - Nanjing. We disembark from our cruise in Yichang late this morning. After lunch we take a high speed train bound for Nanjing. Reaching speeds of over 310km per hour we head to Nanjing in just a little more than 5.5 hours arriving late evening. Overnight - Nanjing

Day 14: Nanjing - Guilin

Enjoy today at your leisure this evening you board your flight to Guilin. Upon arrival you will be met by our local representatives and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight Guilin.

Day 15: Guilin - Yangshuo

Guilin - Yangshou. This morning drive onwards (approx 1.5hrs) to Yangshuo. Renowned for its striking, if bizarre scenery, vast areas of karst limestone outcrops which rise up from flat rice paddy fields. From Yangshuo it is possible to take a relaxing cruise by simple bamboo raft or motorised long boat along the River Li passing an endless procession of peaks and remote villages. The local fishermen use trained cormorants to catch fish and local village boys paddle out to the river boats with all manner of curios. Overnight - Yangshuo

Day 16: Yangshuo

Choose to go boating along the Li or Yu Long rivers, cycling, hiking, rafting or rock climbing or simply spend the day exploring this charming village laden with quirky shops, tea shops, antiques, art t-shirt designers and souvenir curios. Maybe take a calligraphers or beginners art class with a local painter or enjoy a morning class at the ‘Cloud 9’ cooking school. Overnight - Yangshuo

Day 17: Yangshuo - Guilin

Yangshou - Guilin. Returning to Guilin we tour the enormous Reed Flute Caves. Take an afternoon stroll along the picturesque riverside foot bridges and paths. Overnight Guilin

Day 18: Guilin - Guangzhou

This morning you take to the skies again and fly to Guangzhou. Upon arrival into Guangzhou you'll be escorted to the Chen Family Temple for an afternoon tour. You will also have the opportunity to walk along the pedestrianized streets and admire the classic Chinese architecture as well as partake in some fantastic shopping. Overnight - Guangzhou at the Gesang Hotel


Day 19: Guangzhou

The whole day today is spent touring the many local sights, including Nanyue King's Tomb, Yuexiu Park, Liurong Temple, Xinghai Musical Hall and Zhongshen Square. Overnight - Guangzhou at the Gesang Hotel

Day 20: Guangzhou - Hong Kong

Today you are transferred to the train station for your train to Hong Kong, enjoy the rest of today at your leisure. Overnight - Hong Kong.

Today is free for your to explore Hong Kong at your leisure. Overnight Hong Kong.

Day 22: Hong Kong

Sadly your time with us has come to an end as you are transferred to the airport for your departure flight to your onward destination.
