Welcome to China and the start of your adventure with On the Go Tours. On arrival at the airport, our rep will be there to greet you and transfer you to your hotel in Beijing. There's time to freshen up before a guided tour of the Temple of Heaven. Located in the heart of bustling Beijing, the temple is an oasis of peace and a striking example of architectural order and symmetry. Continue to the Summer Palace with time to explore the lavishly decorated temples, halls and courtyards. This evening enjoy a traditional Peking duck dinner at a local restaurant.
This morning explore the heart of Beijing including the vast Tiananmen Square where Chairman Mao's tomb and various monuments to the people are located. Enjoy a guided tour of the vast Forbidden City, a city within a city that was once the seat of the emperors. Later take an exciting rickshaw ride through the Hutongs of Beijing, weaving through old back lanes and traditional courtyards for a snapshot of an ancient way of life. Later this evening enjoy an evening of choreographed death-defying acrobatics.
Don some comfortable shoes as today you get the chance to walk a section of the famous Great Wall. Zig zagging some 6000km, ducking and weaving through mountain peaks and lush terrain, the Great Wall is one of those 'must-do experiences'. This afternoon visit the Beijing Zoo, one of the oldest zoos in the country, home to over 500 species of animal including the giant panda. Later this evening we will transfer you to the railway station for your overnight sleeper train to Xi'an.
On arrival into Xi'an you will be met at the railway station and transferred to your hotel for breakfast and time to freshen up after your overnight journey. Later today discover the marvellous Terracotta Warriors archaeological site. Some 7000 warriors stand battle-ready and have done so for the past 2,200 years. A visit to a clay workshop specialising in making replica figurines is also included. The remainder of the evening is at leisure or perhaps you'd like to opt for our Tang Dynasty Dinner and Show (please see Enhance Options page of the quote).
First up this morning tour the lofty Big Wild Goose Pagoda. The complex of temples, pagodas and expansive gardens constructed during the 7th century offered refuge and a store house for Chinese Buddhists to translate the very important Buddhist sutras from India. Next enjoy a leisurely bicycle ride (solo or tandem) atop the well-preserved Xi’an city wall. At a minimum of 6 metres in width, 9 miles in length with no steep inclines, the wall offers a great vantage point for peeping down upon the city hubbub below. Visit the Great Mosque and the Muslim Quarter before transferring to the airport for your flight to Guilin.
This morning your Li River cruise departs from downtown Guilin for a full day's excursion. The 90km Li River cruise is the highlight of any trip to northeastern Guangxi province. Gorgeous karst peaks give you surprises at each bend of the limpid river under the blue sky. After passing many world-renowned sights such as Elephant Trunk Hill and Pagoda, arrive in to Yangshuo and check in to your hotel.
Charming Yangshuo, a river town lined with cafes and little shops selling handicrafts, clothing and curios, offers gentle respite far from the madding crowds of the cities.
