Day 1: Beijing

Welcome to Beijing! On arrival our friendly local guide will be waiting in the arrivals hall to transfer you to your hotel. Your guide will assist with check in, the remainder of the day is at your leisure.

Day 2: Beijing

This morning, we tour the centre of Beijing, China's magnificent capital, including the massive Tiananmen Square and the sprawling Forbidden City. Boasting some 9999 rooms, the city within a city was once the sole preserve of the Chinese emperors. Ask your consultant for options on visiting Beijing's residential hutongs area. Evening is at your leisure to explore.

Day 3: Beijing

The Great Wall of China is a must see experience so today e have included a drive beyond Beijing to Badaling. Here with your expert guide you can walk a section of the famous Great Wall. Built in the Ming Dynasty, a 6m wide pathway makes a formidable defence, following the highest contours of a steep range of hills. Returning in the later afternoon to your hotel in the city.

Day 4: Beijing - Xi'an

We understand guided touring is not for all, so today is a free day to explore the city sights at your leisure. Alternately, you may like to opt to enhance your holiday with a guided tour of the Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven and Silk Alley markets. See enhance your holiday page for prices. This evening we will transfer you to the train station for the sleeper train destined for Xian - Your guide will assist with check into the correct carriage and berth - Sit back and enjoy the journey.

Day 5: Xi'an

Your train arrives into Xian in the morning to the start of a new day and the gathering hustle and bustle. Our rep will be waiting for you and transfer you to the hotel for breakfast. Later we have included for you the must see sight of Xian - The Terracotta Warrior archaeological site, where some 7,000 warriors stand in battle ready position. After, a visit to a factory demonstrating how the warriors are crafted. Remainder of the evening at your leisure.

Day 6: Xi'an - Chengdu

Once again today we leave you to your own devices to explore the city. Alternately, you may like to opt to enhance your holiday with a guided tour of ancient Xi'an. See enhance your holiday page for prices. Later this afternoon you will be taken to the airport for your late evening flight to Chengdu. Arrival and our local guide will take you to the hotel to sleep.

Day 7: Chengdu - Yangshuo

Today we tour Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding a short drive out of town. China’s Giant Pandas are considered the most endangered mammal on the planet. Returning to the city in the afternoon enjoy a brief city overview tour before heading to the airport for your later flight to Guilin. Arrival and our local guide will take you to Yangshuo for the night.

Day 8: Yangshuo

Yangshuo offers a world of opportunity for exploring the great outdoors. With breath-taking beauty, striking limestone mountain scenery and pure clean rivers, one can choose to go swimming or tubing down the Yu Long River, hike or hire a bicycle or motorbike and head off on one of the many mountain trails and much more our local guide is available to contact to arrange and assist.

Day 9: Yangshuo - Guilin

Once again the day is at your leisure to explore. When ready at the agreed time we will transfer you to Guilin. Enjoy the evening to explore the city.

Day 10: Guilin

This morning we drive to Longsheng. Here, we explore the rice terraces of the Dragon’s Backbone! Beginning at the base of Mt Longji the verdant green rice fields coil the steep mountain layer upon layer climbing to its summit. Where there is soil a terrace has been made! Taking a walk along the stone paths no more than a metre wide, we climb skyward to enjoy panoramic views of the ribbon like terraces with picturesque valleys and meandering streams below. When ready we return to your hotel in Guilin.

Day 11: Guilin - Shanghai

This morning you pay a visit to The Reed Flute Cave. Here, there are enchanting stalagmites, stone pillars, stele, stone curtains and stone flowers. Then we continue on to Elephant Trunk Hill Located at the confluence of the Taohua (Peach Blossom) River and the Li River to take in the lovely scenery. We then head to the airport for your flight to Shanghai. Arrival and our local guide will take you to the hotel to sleep.

Days 12-13: Shanghai

We do understand the concept of different strokes for different folks at 'on the go tours'. For today and tomorrow we have allowed for free time to explore.
