The Great Wall of China is a must see experience so today we have included a drive beyond Beijing to Badaling. Here with your expert guide you can walk a section of the famous Great Wall. Built in the Ming Dynasty, a 6m wide pathway makes a formidable defence, following the highest contours of a steep range of hills. Continuing a short distance from Badaling, we visit the tombs of the Ming emperors, then return to Beijing. Tonight, an eye boggling Chinese acrobatic performance will be enjoyed while enjoying a beautiful traditional dinner.
Today after breakfast you will enjoy a guided tour of this fabulous city. Included is a visit to the Temple of Heaven and its surrounding parklands, where transcendental music plays on loud speakers and locals practise Tai Chi and yoga. Continue with a visit to the Emperor's Summer Palace, set on Kunming Lake and the gargantuam Silk Alley Markets for some shopping bargains.
Morning flight to Xian. Enjoy a closer look at Xian with your expert guide. We start with a visit to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, followed by a bicycle ride along Xi’an medieval City Wall, affording you a view into the city like no other! We conclude the day with a visit into the Muslim Quarter of the city. The Tang Dynasty Show is a performance of Chang'an music and dance that originated in Xi'an in Shaanxi province at the time of the illustrious Tang Dynasty. By combining poetry with musical instruments, singing, dancing and exquisitely decorated costumes, the modern presentation is certain to give you an impressive view of ancient China. Dinner is included here.
Today we included the tour to the Terracotta Warrior archaeological site where some 7,000 warriors stand in battle ready position and a factory demonstrating how the warriors are crafted. Afternoon we fly to Yichang and here, with assistance from our local guide embark your Yangtze Cruise Boat.
Good morning from the River Yangtze! At 6340km in length, the Yangtze is the 3rd longest river in the world, neatly dividing China into north and south and wending its way through eight very different provinces. For the next three days sit back, relax and enjoy the journey. Take in the spectacular scenery, enjoy the shore excursions offered by the boat and dine on the splendid cuisine offered on board. Your cabin has a balcony to relax on and enjoy.
After disembarking your cruise in Chongqing, our local guide escorts you to the airport for your flight south to Guilin. On arrival you will be transferred to your hotel.
This morning you pay a visit to The Reed Flute Cave, here there are enchanting stalagmites, stone pillars, stele, stone curtains and stone flowers. Then we continue on to Elephant Trunk Hill located at the confluence of the Taohua (Peach Blossom) River and the Li River the scenery is special to say the least.
This morning we drive to Longsheng. Here, we explore the rice terraces of the Dragon’s Backbone! Beginning at the base of Mt Longji the verdant green rice fields coil the steep mountain layer upon layer climbing to its summit. Where there is soil a terrace has been made! Taking a walk along the stone paths no more than a metre wide, we climb skyward to enjoy panoramic views of the ribbon like terraces with picturesque valleys and meandering streams below. Returning to Guilin in the evening.
Renowned for its striking scenery: vast areas of karst limestone outcrops that rise up from flat rice paddy fields; Guilin is often the subject of Chinese painting. We undertake a relaxing day cruise down the River Li, with lunch on-board, to Yangshuo passing an endless procession of peaks and simple villages along the way. Arriving in Yangshuo our local guide will assist with transfer to your hotel.
This morning is your own free time to explore Yangshou - laden with quirky shops, art studios, calligraphers, cafes and restaurants, after the morning of exploration we will transfer you back to Guilin in time for your flight to Shanghai. Arrival transfer to your hotel.
Enjoy a full day exploring this 'Megacity' with our local expert guide. Highlights will include the Oriental Pearl TV tower, the Jade Buddha Temple, French Quarter, The Bund and the Old City.
Take a high speed train journey to ancient Suzhou. An oriental Venice, interwoven by a series of canals and pretty waterways, Suzhou sits very close to the Grand Canal, on which we have a cruise. Next is a visit to the Humble Administrator’s Garden. Our day concludes with a visit to a silk workshop to see how this amazing fabric is produced.
Today we bid you farewell with a departure transfer to the Airport. Based on the magical places you have visited in China I am sure you will have many special memories to ponder on your long flight home.
