Great Wall

Day 1: Beijing

Huan ying, welcome to China and the start of your holiday! Arriving into the airport our local team are on hand to meet you and transfer you to the hotel for check in.

Forbidden City

Day 2: Beijing

Today you will set out to sightsee the nation's capital, starting with Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Tiananmen Square - home to the Monument of the People's Heroes and many important events in Chinese history - most notably the 1989 Student Protests. The Forbidden CIty - so called as it was only visited by people on Imperial business up until 1911 - is a vision in grandeur with yellow roofs, vermilion walls and the innermost sanctum of Beijing. This afternoon you will walk through the city's many temples, grand halls and courtyards before visiting the Temple of Heaven later today.

Day 3: Beijing

Today you take a journey outside of the city to the most famous wall in the world - the Great Wall of China. Take a walk or maybe even a climb on some of the lesser visited parts of the wall at Jinshinlang- a much more fulfilling and intimate experience of the wall! When you have walked enough of the wall - you return to Beijing for your final night there.

Day 4: Beijing - Xi'an

Later we visit the Emperor's Summer Palace, set on Kunming Lake and the Silk Alley Markets. After we drive past the 2008 Olympic Stadium commonly referred to as the ‘Bird's Nest’ and Aquatic Centre before boarding our high speed train to Xian. In Xian meet our team who will take you onto your hotel.

Day 5: Xi'an - Guilin

Home to the world famous Terracotta Warriors, which were discovered in 1974 by local farmers who were digging for a well. These soldiers are over 2200 years old and no two warriors are the same - it is believed they are a self portrait of the individual soldiers. After an informative look around this battle ready army you'll visit the Hangyang tomb before flying to Guilin.

Day 6: Guilin - Yangshuo

Today you will enjoy a whole day Li River cruise. This morning your Li River cruise departs from downtown Guilin for a full days excursion. The 90km Li River cruise is the centerpiece of any trip to northeastern Guangxi Province. Gorgeous Karst peaks give you surprises at each bend of the limpid river under the blue sky. Bear witness to rural China as peasants reap rice paddies, school kids and fisherman float by on bamboo rafts. You will visit the local market and West Street once you arrive in Yangshuo, before driving to your hotel.

Day 7: Yangshuo

Yangshuo offers a world of opportunity for exploring the great outdoors. With breath-taking beauty, striking limestone mountain scenery and pure clean rivers, today in your free time you can choose to go swimming or tubing down the Yu Long River, hike or hire a bicycle or motorbike and head off on one of the many mountain trails.

Day 8: Yangshuo - Longsheng

This morning we drive to Longsheng for an overnight stay. Here, we explore the rice terraces of the Dragon’s Backbone! Beginning at the base of Mt Longji the verdant green rice fields coil the steep mountain layer upon layer climbing to its summit. Where there is soil a terrace has been made! Taking a walk along the stone paths no more than a metre wide, we climb skyward to enjoy panoramic views of the ribbon like terraces with picturesque valleys and meandering streams below.

Day 9: Longsheng - Shanghai

We make our way back to Guilin this morning and pay a visit to The Reed Flute Cave, where there are enchanting stalagmites, stone pillars, stone curtains and stone flowers. Then we continue on to Elephant Trunk Hill Located at the confluence of the Taohua (Peach Blossom) River and the Li River. When complete we catch the flight to Shanghai.

Day 10: Shanghai

Today you tour many of the city’s top spots - Yu Gardens and Bazaar- Shanghai’s finest traditional garden, the Bund, Pudong and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the Jade Buddha Temple and take a cruise along the Huangpu River.

Day 11: Shanghai

Today, you journey to an oriental Venice – ancient Zhulialiao interwoven by a series of canals and pretty waterways. Enjoy the day with your guide taking in the scenic town and having a wander along it’s many pretty streets. Return for an evening at leisure in Shanghai. Tonight you can have a booking made at one of the many cities revolving rooftop restaurants and enjoy a dinner overlooking the stunning city lights.

Day 12: Shanghai

Today we take a high speed train journey to ancient Suzhou. A sort of oriental Venice, ancient Suzhou is interwoven by a series of canals and pretty waterways which feed a series of classical gardens, laid out here since the Song dynasty, a thousand years ago. They are justly famous across China. Suzhou sits very close to the Grand Canal. We enjoy a cruise on the Grand Canal, tour the Humble Administrator’s Garden and visit a silk workshop

Day 13: Shanghai

Today, explore scenic Hangzhou. Hangzhou is unusual for a Chinese city, in that it encompasses large tracts of greenery which might normally be classified as countryside. Arriving here, we explore the the West Lake, Lingyin Temple and take a bicycle ride in the stunning scenery. We return in the late evening on the highspeed train.

Day 14: Shanghai

Today allows for free time to explore the city and all it has to offer.

Day 15: Shanghai - Lijiang

Returning to the airport we catch a flight to Lijiang. Arriving here, enjoy some free time to go out for a wander.

Day 16: Lijiang

Enjoy an excursion to the stunning Jade Dragon Snow Mountain; its landscape includes one of the southernmost glaciers in the world. Access to the mountain is provided by a cable lift to Dragon Spruce Meadow, halfway to the glacier peak. We also visit Baisha Mural and Baisha Village and then back in town we conclude the day wandering the Shu he old town.

Day 17: Lijiang

Today we enjoy the natural gardens of the Black Dragon Pool and exploration of the Dayan Old Town. The afternoon then allows free time for you to further explore at leisure.

Day 18: Lijiang - Zhongdian (Shangri-La)

Today we head to the thrillingly named Tiger leaping gorge on the Yangtze River, where there is time to walk and take in the scenery. Some 16km long and up to 3000m deep, it is the world's deepest canyon. The gorge is so narrow at various points that legend has it a tiger once escaped pursuit by leaping across. Visiting the gorge, you’ll have a chance to walk a section and take in the dramatic, yet stark scenery. After, we continue the journey to Shangri La.

Day 19: Zhongdian (Shangri-La)

Today we discover the regional highlight, Songzanlin temple with it's fascinating nooks and crannies.

Day 20: Zhongdian (Shangri-La)

Today exploring the area more in depth we head off to see the natural beauty of Shudu lake & Bita meadow and conclude our day at a Tibetan culture village affording you a wonderful insight into Tibetan culture.

Day 21: Zhongdian (Shangri-La)

Sadly your journey has come to an end, we will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight to Shanghai (Via Kunming)
