Welcome to China and the start of your holiday! Enjoy an arrival transfer to our hotel, where you sit back and relax after your long flight.
This morning, we explore the heart of Beijing including the vast Tiananmen Square where Chairman Mao’s tomb and various monuments to the people are located. Dominating the city’s heart is the Forbidden City, a centre of power for five centuries and seat of the emperors. Entering through the Gate of Heavenly Peace (replete with Chairman Mao’s portrait), we enjoy a guided walk of this old city within a city. We also visit the Temple of Heaven.
Don some comfortable shoes. Today we drive out of the city to Badaling, where we can walk a section of the Great Wall. Some sections are fairly steep, but the walk on the vast wall that snakes for thousands of kilometres is one of those ‘must do’ experiences! Continuing a short distance from Badaling, we visit the tombs of the Ming emperors.
Today we visit the Hutong area by Rickshaw. We also visit the beautiful Summer Palace. Later you board your overnight train to Harbin. (Train T17,2126/0826+1, or Z15,2120/0704+1).
Arrival at Harbin train station where you will be met and transferred to your hotel for breakfast. Later we see the stunning creations at the Harbin Ice and Snow World, with buildings, creatures and lanterns, even the Pyramids and the Great Wall.
Today we visit Sun Island Park for the Harbin Ice Festival. Carvers will still be adding final touches to their masterpieces. The range and details on the ice structures are quite incredible. We also visit Zhaolin Park to further view the creations.
Day at leisure to explore more of Harbin. Later you will be transferred to the train station for your overnight train back to Beijing. (Train T18,2107/0831+1, or Z16, 2134/0720+1).
