Great Wall

Day 1: Beijing

Welcome to Beijing international Airport and the start of your holiday! Arrival transfer to your hotel and check in. Rest of the day is free and at your leisure.

Forbidden City

Day 2: Beijing

Today we explore the heart of Beijing including the vast Tiananmen Square where Chairman Mao’s tomb and various monuments to the people are located. Dominating the city’s heart is the Forbidden City, a centre of power for five centuries and seat of the emperors. Entering through the Gate of Heavenly Peace, we enjoy a guided walk of this old city within a city. Tonight enjoy a welcome dinner of Peking Duck at a city restaurant.

Day 3: Beijing

Today we drive out of the city to Badaling, where we can walk a section of the Great Wall. Some sections are fairly steep, but the walk on the vast wall that snakes for thousands of kilometres is one of those ‘must do’ experiences! Continuing a short distance from Badaling, we visit the tombs of the Ming emperors. We also make a visit to a cloisonne workshop, where we will see firsthand the unique Chinese art of combining copper and enamel to make decorative pieces.

Summer Palace

Day 4: Beijing - Xi'an

Morning market walk followed by a visit to the Summer Palace. We explore the lavishly decorated temples, halls and courts, reconstructed in 1902 at the whim of the extravagant Dowager Empress Cixi. Visit to the famed Silk Alley markets and drive by the Beijing 2008 Olympic Stadium en route to the train station. We board the overnight sleeper train to Xian.

Day 5: Xi'an

Arrive Xi’an at 8 am, we will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. We visit Huaqing Hot Springs, a scenic spot in the shadow of Li Mountain. Before visiting the Terracotta Warrior archaeological site, we visit a workshop where we see the process used to create the terracotta figurines. In battle formation, the Terracotta warriors are one of China’s most awesome sights.

Day 6: Xi'an

Today, we visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the Muslim Quarter. Encircling the old city is Xi’an’s medieval City Wall, where we enjoy a hired bike ride. Enjoy the remainder of the day in your own time to explore the beautiful city.

Day 7: Xi'an - Chengdu

Today we will transfer you to the Airport in Xian for your flight to Chengdu where you will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel. Rest of the day is free and at your leisure.

Day 8: Chengdu

After breakfast you will venture to the Panda Centre. Located just 10km (6miles) away from downtown Chengdu, the Chengdu Panda Breeding Research Centre has been created and imitates the pandas' natural habitat in order that they might have the best possible environment for rearing and breeding. It's a full day excursion where you will also get to see other endangered species and the famous giant Buddha sculpture.

Day 9: Chengdu - Guilin

Today we will transfer you to the Airport for your flight to Guilin. Arrive Guilin and you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Later today enjoy a guided sightseeing tour to see the Reed Flute Cave. Within the cave there are enchanting stalagmites, stone pillars, stele, stone curtains and stone flowers. Then we continue on to Elephant Trunk Hill located at the confluence of the Taohua (Peach Blossom) River and Li River.

Day 10: Guilin

This morning your Li River cruise departs from downtown Guilin for a full days excursion. The 90 Km Li River cruise is the centerpiece of any trip to northeastern Guangxi Province. Gorgeous Karst peaks give you surprises at each bend of the limpid river under the blue sky. Bear witness to rural China as peasants reap rice paddies, school kids and fisherman float by on bamboo rafts. Later we arrive in to Yangshuo where you have free time to explore before we take you back to Guilin.

Day 11: Guilin - Shanghai

Today we will transfer you to the Airport for your flight to Shanghai. Arrive Shanghai and you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Rest of the day is free and at your leisure.

Day 12: Shanghai

Once known for its decadent magnetism that attracted fortune-seekers and adventurers, Shanghai looks like a European city in a Chinese setting. A stroll along the famous Shanghai Bund confirms this. Today, we visit the Oriental Pearl TV tower, explore the Jade Buddha Temple, charming Yuyuan Gardens, and the Old City where we can opt to shop on Nanjing Road. Enjoy a cruise on Huangpu River.

Day 13: Shanghai - Hong Kong

Today we will transfer you to the Airport in time for your flight to Hong Kong. Own arrangements for the transfer to your hotel. Free day and at your leisure.
