Day 1: Beijing

Huan ying, welcome to China and the start of your journey of a lifetime through the Orient! When you arrive at Beijing airport our local guide and driver await to transfer you to your hotel. The remainder of today is at your leisure.

Great Wall

Day 2: Beijing

Today you take a journey outside of the city to the most famous wall in the world - the Great Wall of China. Take a walk or maybe even a climb on some of the lesser visited parts of the wall - a much more fulfilling and intimate experience of the wall! Later on you can opt to see how they make traditional noodles and sample them afterwards. When you have walked enough of the wall - you return to Bejing.

Forbidden City

Day 3: Beijing - Xi'an

This morning explore the heart of Beijing including the vast Tiananmen Square where Chairman Mao's tomb and various monuments to the people are located. Enjoy a guided tour of the vast Forbidden City, a city within a city that was once the seat of the emperors. Later take an exciting rickshaw ride through the Hutongs of Beijing, weaving through old back lanes and traditional courtyards for a snapshot of an ancient way of life. Later this evening transfer to the railway station for your overnight sleeper train to Xi'an.

Day 4: Xi'an

Arriving this morning at the station our friendly local team are on hand to meet you and transfer you to your hotel. Later our guide will take you to visit the Terracotta Warriors archaeological site and the workshop where the replica warriors are crafted. Day 5: Xi'an - Chengdu

Spend the morning at leisure before a guided excursion to the ancient Buddhist Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Take a casual bicycle ride on top of the nine mile city wall with views over the lively city below. The day concludes with a visit to the Muslim Quarter of the city, giving you a great insight into the religious diversity of China. We will later transfer you to the station in time for the sleeper train to Chengdu.

Day 6: Chengdu

Awaken this morning in Chengdu - capital of Sichuan province - famed for its outstanding natural beauty, fiery cuisine and China’s first, largest and best known Panda research and breeding centre. On arrival into the station you'll be transferred to your hotel. With your guide we take a short drive out of town takes you to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. As you know China’s Giant Pandas are considered the most endangered mammal on the planet, you will spend the day getting to know about them and even getting to hold one. Returning in the later afternoon you head to Renmin Park to drink some tea as the locals love to do.

Day 7: Chengdu

Driving to Leshan the morning is spent exploring the the UNESCO-listed Dafo (Great Buddha), which is carved into the red sandstone face of Lingyun Hill overlooking the treacherous confluence of the Min, Qingyi and Dadu rivers below. Driving onward take in the views from Emei Shan (Mt Emei) designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its incredible natural beauty and historical Buddhist sites. Arriving at Baoguo, located at the foot of the Mountain, visit the serene Temple of Baoguo.

Day 8: Chengdu - Guilin

This morning we will transfer you to the airport where you will get your flight to Guilin. On arrival in Guilin we will transfer you to your hotel. This afternoon we will check out the Reed Flute Caves and Elephant trunk hill, before a free evening.

Day 9: Guilin - Yangshuo

Today you will enjoy a whole day Li River cruise. This morning your Li River cruise departs from downtown Guilin for a full days excursion. The 90km Li River cruise is the centerpiece of any trip to northeastern Guangxi Province. Gorgeous Karst peaks give you surprises at each bend of the limpid river under the blue sky. Bear witness to rural China as peasants reap rice paddies, school kids and fisherman float by on bamboo rafts. You will visit the local market and West Street once you arrive in Yangshuo. This evening you will have the amazing Impression Sanjie Liu show, on the river backdrop, with a kaleidoscope of colour and sound.

Day 10: Yangshuo

This morning we drive to Longsheng. Here, we explore the rice terraces of the Dragon’s Backbone! Beginning at the base of Mt Longji the verdant green rice fields coil the steep mountain layer upon layer climbing to its summit. Where there is soil a terrace has been made! Taking a walk along the stone paths no more than a metre wide, we climb skyward to enjoy panoramic views of the ribbon like terraces with picturesque valleys and meandering streams below.

Day 11: Yangshuo

Enjoy a morning cycling tour and explore the local markets and village. Streets in Yangshuo are well kept in the original style, presenting the simple and primitive atmosphere of the ancient town. West Street is the most exciting one that locals call the 'Global Village'. This afternoon we will take you on a rafting trip and this evening you will join a fisherman on his boat, to see Cormorant fishing trip.

Days 12-13: Yangshuo - Hong Kong

Today a transfer to the station in Guilin for the flight to Hong Kong. On arrival we will check you into the hotel. Free time in Hong Kong to explore on your own.

Make your own way on the convenient nearby shuttle service to the airport in time for your flight home.
