Today we tour Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding a short drive out of town. China’s Giant Pandas are considered the most endangered mammal on the planet. Afterwards, visit the Wuhou Memorial Temple, the Tomb of Wang Jian and Jinli Lu street.
Today is a free day before your flight onto Shanghai. Upon arrival we will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel for the evening.
Perhaps, China’s most modern city, its amazing Pudong skyline is stunning. After breakfast at our hotel, we take a tour of the many city sights including Yuyuan Garden, Jade Buddha Temple and The Bund, with a cruise on the Huangpu River.
Today we take a high speed train journey to ancient Suzhou. A sort of oriental Venice, ancient Suzhou is interwoven by a series of canals and pretty waterways which feed a series of classical gardens, laid out here since the Song dynasty, a thousand years ago. They are justly famous across China. Suzhou sits very close to the Grand Canal. We enjoy a cruise on the Grand Canal, tour the Humble Administrator’s Garden and visit a silk workshop.
Today is a free day for you to relax or explore independently.
This morning is free before your afternoon flight to Luoyang. Upon arrival we will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel for the evening.
Today we explore the UNESCO - listed 6th Century Longman Caves etched into the cliffs of the Yi River. The 1300 caves (grottoes) are adorned with 100,000 statues and images of Buddha and his disciples, carved during the Northern Wei Dynasty. Later on we tour the White Horse Temple, the first Buddhist temple in China. Overnight Dengfeng Chanju Hotel.
Today you can enjoy a guided tour of the Shaolin Temple and a Kongfu performance then you will be transferred to Zhengzhou train station for your overnight shared train to Jinan.
Upon arrival into Jinan we will pick you up and embark on a short city sightseeing tour. The remainder of the day is free.
Today we drive to Mt Tai Shan, perhaps the holiest of the five Chinese holy mountains devoted to Taoism. There are more than 6000 steps to the summit, streams of pilgrims take the challenge, we take the cable car. With stunning scenery and many ancient temples dotting the slopes we visit Heaven Street, Cloud Bridge and the Jade Emperor’s temple. drive leads us to Bu Yang Village. The principles of Communism and communal work and land ownership are somewhat still in place here. We stop for a light lunch at Mr Peng’s (one of the party officials) home. Seated around the family’s low to the ground lazy Susan, Mrs Peng serves up local dishes and copious bottles of beer. This is real village life!
Qufu, is the birthplace of Confucius and today you will be there to see the ceremony take place. When complete, we visit Confucius Temple, ranks with Beijing’s Forbidden city as a great classic Chinese architectural complex. The grand and opulent of the Confucius mansion. After visits to the mansion and temple we take a rickshaw ride around the city wall with a visit to the eerie Confucius forest.
This morning you will be transferred to the train station for the high speed train to Beijing. Upon arrival we will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel for the evening. Today we also welcome Judith to Beijing with her arrival airport transfer to meet you at the hotel.
Today, we drive beyond Beijing to Badaling, where we can walk a section of the famous Great Wall. Parts of the wall have been renovated, a little steep in sections though not too challenging. Today we also visit the Ming Tombs, a group of mausoleums of some thirteen Ming emperors, their empresses and concubines, representing China’s finest example of imperial tomb architecture.
Today is a free day for you to relax or explore independently. This evening you will be transferred to the railway station for your shared overnight train to Xi'an.
Upon arrival we will pick you up from the train station and after enjoying breakfast at your hotel. We then visit the archaeological site of the Terracotta Warriors. This evening you enjoy an outdoor dinner performance show.
Early this morning we tour the Xingping Park. We will then explore the city, we visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, enjoy a bike ride on top of the City Wall and check out the Muslim Quarter and Great Mosque. Later this afternoon we tour the Shaanxi Provincial History Museum. This evening we will transfer you to the train station for your overnight train to Beijing.
Upon arrival we will pick you up from the train station. Today we tour of the nation’s capital and host of the 2008 Olympics. WE visit the Birds Nest and Water Cube. Tiananmen Square is essentially the heart of Beijing. Heading back a few centuries, we step into the Forbidden city, the walled city of the former Chinese emperors. This afternoon we take rickshaws to explore the Hutongs of Beijing.
