Welcome to China and the start of your holiday! Enjoy an arrival meeting with your guide from here you will be shuttled a couple of hours to your hotel located right on the Great Wall of China in preparation for tomorrows excursions.
Today we enjoy a full day walking on a lesser visited part of the Great Wall of China take in the stunning views as your guide leads you on the trail. After we drive into the city of Beijing and check into your hotel.
This morning, we tour the centre of Beijing including the massive Tiananmen Square and the sprawling Forbidden City. Boasting some 9999 rooms, the city within a city was once the sole preserve of the Chinese emperors. Afternoon rickshaw ride through the Hutongs of Beijing to catch a glimpse of ancient traditional life in a modernising mega city.
Free morning for shopping or relaxation. Afternoon we visit the Emperor's Summer Palace, set on Kunming Lake and the gartantuous Silk Alley Markets. After we drive past the 2008 Olympic stadium commonly referred to as the ‘birdsnest’ and aquatic centre before boarding our overnight sleeper train (4 berth soft sleeper cabins) to Xi'an
Arrive Xi’an and your guide will transfer you for hotel check in. Later after time to freshen up we tour the Terracotta Warrior archaeological site where some 7,000 warriors stand in battle ready position and a factory demonstrating how the warriors are crafted.
This morning a visit to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda followed up by a bicycle ride along Xi’an 9 mile in length, medieval City Wall. This evening we take you to the station for the sleeper train to Chengdu.
Arriving into Chengdu your guide will take you to your hotel. Today enjoy a visit to a visit to the Tibetan quarter, south of the city, frequented by very few tourists. The district teems with shops stocked to their roofs with heavy clothes, turquoise jewellery, prayer wheels with shoppers being Tibetan monks, cowboys and Khampa women.
Today we tour Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding a short drive out of town. Afterwards, visit the Wuhou Memorial Temple, the Tomb of Wang Jian and Jinli Lu street - part of the old city where open air theatre and Sichuan Opera are performed in the evening.
This morning fly to Jiuzhaigou - a region that for centuries has been inhabited by various Tibetan and Qiang people. Tour the Huanglong Monastery. Afterwards enjoy a relaxing stroll by the region’s famed calcium travertines. Resembling a terraced field, the travertines flow gently into a series of multi-coloured, mineral rich ponds beneath.
Today is spent exploring the Jiuzhaigou Scenic Reserve with your expert guide highlights will be the Pearl Beach Falls, Nuorilong Falls and Long Lake. The ever flowing cascade of Nuorilong spans an impressive 320 metres - making it the widest waterfall in all of China and much more.
Taking to the sky once again we fly to Guilin. On arrival we will transfer you to your hotel. Remainder of the day free to explore the city.
This morning you pay a visit to The Reed Flute Cave that is home to enchanting stalagmites, stone pillars, stele, stone curtains and stone flowers. Then we continue on to Elephant Trunk Hill Located at the confluence of the Taohua (Peach Blossom) Rivers to take in the views we then drive you to Yangshuo.
Day at leisure to explore today I would recommend to rent bicycles from your hotel and head out into the country and mix with the friendly locals.
This morning we drive to Longsheng. Here, we explore the rice terraces of the Dragon’s Backbone! Taking a walk along the stone paths no more than a metre wide, we climb skyward to enjoy panoramic views of the ribbon like terraces with picturesque valleys and meandering streams below. Evening flight to Shanghai.
Today your guide will take you out to see the Jade Buddha Temple, Yuyuan Garden and street market, The Bund, some shopping along Nanjing Road and evening taking a cruise along the Huangpu River to see the city lights.
Our tour concludes after breakfast and onward departure transfer to the airport for your flight home.
