Welcome to China and the start of your incredible adventure with On the Go Tours. We'll be there at the airport to welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Beijing where the remainder of the day can be spent at leisure.
Don some comfortable shoes as today you get the chance to walk a section of the famous Great Wall at Mutianyu. Zig-zagging some 6000km, ducking and weaving through mountain peaks and lush terrain, the Great Wall is one of those 'must-do experiences'.
Today enjoy guided touring of Tiananmen Square and the Hall of Great Harmony Palace Museum in the vast Forbidden City. Continue with the National Centre for Performing Arts, National Museum of China & Summer Palace. The Summer Palace is set on Kunming Lake. This vast complex is replete with lavishly decorated temples, halls and courts, reconstructed in 1902 at the whim of the extravagant Dowager Empress Cixi.
This morning we transfer you to the airport for your flight to Kashgar. Lying at the foot of the Pamir mountains with the Taklamakan Desert to the east, Kashgar is the end of China's New Frontier. The remainder of the day is at leisure for you to prepare for your forthcoming desert trek.
Transfer to Yopurgha, the last village before the Taklimakan Desert. Here you'll have a chance to purchase food supplies before we proceed to the edge of the desert. Loading our baggage on camels we begin our amazing trek at approximately 2pm. The afternoon is spent on camel back riding through the desert. Dinner is provided and the night is spent camping in tents.
Over the next three days, our trekking will begin at 9am and continues until 4pm. The days will be spent on camel back, soaking up the views of the ever-shifting desert and its earthy coloured sand dunes. Evenings are spent with the guide and camel herder preparing food and setting up camp.
Today is our last day in the desert. After our camp breakfast we return to our desert entry point at approximately midday where vehicles will be waiting to take you back to Kashgar where you can make the most of your hotel's facilities after your 5 days spent in the desert.
Leaving the desert and Silk Road behind us today, we transfer you to the airport for your flight to Shanghai, a name that has long conjured up mystery, romance and general decadence. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel for check in.
Today visit the Bund - a waterfront promenade home to a vast series of grandiose pre-1949 buildings - the Oriental Pearl Tower, the arts and crafts enclave of Tianzifang and the Propaganda Poster Art Centre. Later in the evening watch a spectacular Era Acrobats show.
This morning we transfer you to the airport for your flight to Hong Kong, a fascinating and lively city with multiple personalities due to its remnants of the colonial era plus its Chinese heritage. Make your own way to your hotel (Harbour View Hotel) with the rest of the day at leisure.
Today we head out to explore Hong Kong with guided touring of the classical Chinese Nan Lian Garden with pretty wooden pagodas, the large temple complex of the Chi Lin Nunnery and Hong Kong Science museum. Later this evening celebrate New Year's Eve in style with a harbour cruise.
Today marks the end of your adventure with On the Go Tours. After breakfast and hotel check out make your own way to the airport in time for your onward departure flight.
