Welcome to China and the start of your holiday! Enjoy an arrival transfer to our hotel, where you can sit back and relax after your long flight.
This morning, we explore the heart of Beijing including the vast Tiananmen Square where Chairman Mao’s tomb and various monuments to the people are located. Dominating the city’s heart is the Forbidden City, a centre of power for five centuries and seat of the emperors. Entering through the Gate of Heavenly Peace (replete with Chairman Mao’s portrait), we enjoy a guided walk of this old city within a city. Tonight, we enjoy a Welcome Dinner of Peking Duck at a city restaurant.
Don some comfortable shoes. Today we drive out of the city to Badaling, where we can walk a section of the Great Wall. Some sections are fairly steep, but the walk on the vast wall that snakes for thousands of kilometres is one of those ‘must do’ experiences! Continuing a short distance from Badaling, we visit the tombs of the Ming emperors. We also make a visit to a cloisonne workshop, where we will see firsthand the unique Chinese art of combining copper and enamel to make decorative pieces.
Today, we visit Silk Alley markets and the beautiful Summer Palace. We also see the Beijing 2008 Olympic stadium and Aquatic centre.
Today you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Urumqui. Arrive Urumqui and you will be met by our guide and transferred to your hotel.
Today you will be transferred to the Airport after breakfast for your flight to Kashhgar. Arrive Kashgar and you will be met and transferred to your hotel. From the 10th - 18th centuries Kashgar was part of the Islamic world, until the Chinese reconquered the region. Today we visit Kalakul lake before we return to Kashgar for the night.
Lying at the foot of the Pamir mountains in the far west of Xinjiang, Kashgar’s importance grew from its location as an oasis at the point where the northern and southern routes of the ancient Silk Road converged, forming a gateway to the mountains leading to India and Russia. See the Id Kah Mosque, Aba Khoja Mausoleum. Later today we will transfer you to the Airport for your flight to Urumqi and transfer you to your hotel on arrival.
Enjoy an excursion to the southern mountain pastures before continuing by road to Turpan. Located on the northern Silk Road, Turpan is a rural Uighur settlement. The Uighur descended from nomadic Siberian and Central Asian tribes who settled the region in the 9th century. Renowned for its grape production, you’ll visit Putao Gou (Grape Valley), heart of the region’s massive grape production.
Today we drive you back to Urumqui. Enjoy a visit to Xinjiang Museum and Red Hill. Rest of the day is free and at your leisure.
Capital of Xinjiang, a largely desert and grassland province fringed by some of the highest mountains in the world, Urumqi sits amidst beautiful scenery, with the snow-clad Tian Shan range to the city’s east. Today we drive to Heavenly Lake, Er-Dao-Qiao Grand Bazaar. Rest of the day is free and at your leisure.
Today we will transfer you to the Airport for your flight to Chengdu with a connection to Jiuzhaigou. Arrive and you will be met by our guide and transferred to your hotel.
Today enjoy a full days guided tour in Jiuzhaigou to explore more of this amazing reserve, which when translated means "Nine Village Gully".
This morning we will transfer you to the Airport for your flight to Chengdu. Arrive Chengdu and connect with the flight to Shanghai. Arrive Shanghai and you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Rest of the day is free and at your leisure.
Today enjoy a guided tour of Shanghai. Once known for its decadent magnetism that attracted fortune-seekers and adventurers, Shanghai looks like a European city in a Chinese setting. A stroll along the famous Shanghai Bund confirms this. Today, we visit the Oriental Pearl TV tower, explore the Jade Buddha Temple, charming Yuyuan Gardens, and the Old City where we can opt to shop on Nanjing Road. Enjoy a cruise on the Huangpu River.
Travelling west, we journey to Suzhou in Jiangsu Province. One of China’s most charming cities, it’s fame rests on it’s waterways, and canals that are dotted with traditional bridges, houses and gardens. A cruise on the Grand Canal exposes Suzhou’s beauty. Renown for it’s silk, we also visit a silk workshop before returning to Shanghai.
Today we bid you farewell with a departure transfer to the Airport. Based on the magical places you have visited in China, I am sure you will have many special memories to ponder on your long flight home.
