Day 1: Kunming

Welcome to China! Today on arrival at the airport in Kunming you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel.Situated at an elevation of 2000m above sea level on the fertile Yunnan plateau, Kunming, capital of Yunnan province, is also known as the 'City of Eternal Spring'. Subtropical Kunming is skirted by mountain ranges to the north, east and west, and by large Lake Dianchi to the south. Kunming has a history spanning more than 3,000 years. It is known to have been a small settlement as early as 109 BC, trading in salt, silver, gold, silk and lumber. This afternoon time permitting we will take a guided walk to the Green Lake and then have the opportunity to purchase water and supplies for your stay. This evening we will enjoy a welcome banquet.

Day 2: Kunming

After breakfast today we take a full day tour to the Haigeng Minority People's Villiage. You will lean from 12 different villiages who will perform minority dancing and the Dai People will perform a traditional elephant show.

Days 3-10: Kunming - Dali

Today we take a guided tour to Dinosaur Valley, where we take the time to visit the Dinosaur Fossil Museum before lunch. After lunch we continue on to Dali, where Students will meet their home stays and teachers will check into their hotels for the next 7 days. Picturesquely situated on Lake Erhai with a backdrop formed by the peaks of the 50km-long Cang Shang range, Dali commands a stunning location perfect for exploring on foot or by bike. With its proximity to the legendary Silk Road, Dali’s fortunes kick-started when an aspiring 8th century prince named Piluage invited some rivals to dinner. Casting alight the tent they were in, he then set to establishing the Nanzhao Kingdom here, a realm that was later expanded to include large tracts of modern Burma, Thailand and Vietnam.

Day 11: Dali - Xi'an

After a fun filled week of education today we say goodbye to our new friends and travel back to Kunming where we take an afternoon flight to Xian. On arrival in Xian you will be met by our representative at the airport and transferred to your hotel.

Day 12: Xi'an - Beijing

Xi’an is the capital of Shaanxi province. Regarded as one of the most important cities in Chinese history, Xi'an is listed as one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China because it has been the capital of 13 dynasties, including the Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang. Xi'an is also the eastern end of the famed Silk Road. Xi’an eventually declined to a provincial backwater, growing and expanding in the 20th century. Unknown really to the modern West, Xi’an was placed firmly on the tourist trail after the discovery of Emperor Qin’s army of 2,200-year-old terracotta warriors in 1974. Today we visit the Terracotta Warriors and Horse Museum before visiting the 14 km long city wall. This evening we fly to Beijing. and are transferred to your hotel.

Day 13: Beijing

Capital of the People’s Republic, Beijing is China’s political, economic and cultural centre. With an awesome history, Beijing was established in 1045 BC and for 800 years served as the capital of several dynasties. Tiananmen Square, the largest public square in the world and where Chairman Mao proclaimed the People’s Republic in 1949, is the city’s heart. The square plays hosts to Chairman Mao’s great mausoleum, various stoic monuments and is a popular gathering place for people out strolling, flying kites and eating ice creams. Today we visit Tienanmen Square and the Forbidden City before visiting the famous Shao Lin Wu Xiao where we enjoy a Kung Fu show and learn Kung Fu at the school.

Day 14: Beijing

This morning set out to the Juyongguan section of the Great Wall of China, also considered as one of the greatest wonders of the world. This massive wall stretches well over 4,000 miles and once was used as the soldiers' safeguard to protect the Chinese empire's northern boarders against invaders. This afternoon we return to the city with an opportunity to take a photos of the Birds Nest Stadium and Water Cube- famous from the Beijing Olympics.

Day 15: Beijing

This morning we start early and visit the Beijing Zoo, one of the oldest zoos in the country, home to over 500 species of animal including the giant panda. We then travel to the Silk Street Market where we have 2 hours free to shop. We then transfer to the airport where our arrangements end.
