This morning, we tour the centre of Beijing including the massive Tiananmen Square and the sprawling Forbidden City. Boasting some 9999 rooms, the city within a city was once the sole preserve of the Chinese emperors. Afternoon enjoy a rickshaw ride through the Hutongs of Beijing to see how a traditional way of life is being upheld in a fast modernising city.
Today, we drive beyond Beijing to Badaling here you wont need to walk as we can get the cable car to up on a section of the famous Great Wall which was Built in the Ming Dynasty, a 6m wide pathway makes a formidable defence, following the highest contours of a steep range of hills. Enjoy a guided explanation and plenty of time for photos. When ready we will drive you back to the hotel in Beijing.
Today enjoy a morning visit to the Temple of heaven and it's lovely surrounding parkland followed by a visit to the Emperor's Summer Palace, set on Kunming Lake and the gartantuous Silk Alley Markets. After we can drive past the 2008 Olympic stadium commonly referred to as the ‘birdsnest’ and aquatic centre just so you can reminisce on how much better England pulled off the Olympics :-) Evening at your leisure.
Today you will fly to Diqing airport - Arrival transfer to your hotel in Zhongdian our guide will meet you and give you a bit of briefing on where to eat and visit this afternoon/evening.
Today we will drive to visit the Puda Tso National Park, including Shudu Lake & Bitahai Lake. Later drive back to Zhongdian, pay a Tibetan Family visiting on the way. Visit the Songzanlin Monastery, if you come at the right time, you may see the Lama having their evening lessons, and many Tibetan people enjoying the ceremony.
Today we'll drive from Zhongdian to Shengping Town in Deqin County (187 KM). Visit the Great Bend of Yangtze River, enjoy scenery of Jinsha River Valley, wooden workshop at Benzilan en route. After lunch, visit the Dongzhulin Lamasery, through the Baimang Snow Mountain, enjoy the splendid sunset view from the top stop. The view along the way is fantastic with different kinds of trees, streams down the valley, prayer flags and stupas, and Tibetan villages. After arrival, check in the hotel.
Get up early in the morning we'll drive to Mingyong village, stop at Feilai Temple to enjoy the sunrise of the Meili Snow Mountain (if good weather). After lunch we will drive to visit Taizi Monastery, a good spot to view the magnificent Mingyong Ice Glacier. After the tour, drive back to Shengping Town.
Today we make our way back to Zhongdian. Spend the afternoon at leisure to explore the town and relax.
Today we drive to Lijiang stopping en route to visit the magnificent Tiger leaping gorge which is some 16km long and up to 3000m deep, it is the worlds deepest canyon. The gorge is so narrow at various points that legend has it a tiger once escaped pursuit by leaping across. Visiting the gorge, you’ll have a chance to walk a section and take in the dramatic, yet stark scenery. Arrival in Lijiang evening at your leisure.
Enjoy an excursion to the stunning Jade Dragon Snow Mountain; its landscape includes one of the southernmost glaciers in the world. Access to the mountain is provided by a cable lift to Dragon Spruce Meadow, halfway to the glacier peak. Visit also Yufeng Si Monastery. Back in Lijiang this afternoon/evening enjoy a guided walk around the Dayan Old town and an evening Naxi music show.
Today we drive to Dali -- Picturesquely situated on Lake Erhai with a backdrop formed by the peaks of the 50km long Cang Shang range, Dali is a great place for some gentle-paced exploration and a little relaxation.
Today sightseeing in Dali and surrounds includes a cruise on Lake Erhai, some orientation stops at some ancient temples and villages, a visit to Butterfly Spring - a popular spot surrounded by a marble ballustrade and overhung by an ancient tree that produces butterfly-like flowers and the famous Three Pagodas. Built when the region was a major Buddhist centre, Dali’s distinctively tall pagodas remain upright, despite wars and earthquakes.
Morning flight to Kunming -- Later today, you’ll visit the picturesque Western Hills and the Dragon Gate Grotto.
Excursion to Stone Forest. Celebrated as a natural wonder, it’s Yunnan’s most visited sight. As you stroll along the winding paths and lookout points, you’ll be in awe of the bizaare, tightly packed formations of almost ‘petrified’ stone that forms this unusual attraction 120 km from Kunming.
Morning flight to Guilin - Drive onwards (approx 1.5hrs) to Yangshuo. Renowned for its striking, if bizarre scenery, vast areas of karst limestone outcrops which rise up from flat rice paddy fields. From Yangshuo it is possible to take a relaxing cruise by simple bamboo raft or motorised long boat along the River Li passing an endless procession of peaks and remote villages. The local fishermen use trained cormorants to catch fish and local village boys paddle out to the river boats with all manner of curios.
Enjoy today free time to explore perhaps you want to go out rafting or rent bicycles and visit the surrounding villages in the nearby mountains.
This morning we drive to Longsheng. Here, we explore the rice terraces of the Dragon’s Backbone! Beginning at the base of Mt Longji the verdant green rice fields coil the steep mountain layer upon layer climbing to its summit. Where there is soil a terrace has been made! Taking a walk along the stone paths no more than a metre wide, we climb skyward to enjoy panoramic views of the ribbon like terraces with picturesque valleys and meandering streams below.
Returning to Guilin we tour the enormous Reed Flute Caves and Elephant trunk hill. After take an afternoon stroll along the picturesque riverside foot bridges and paths in town before boarding the overnight train to Guangzhou.
Arriving here this morning our rep will meet you and transfer you to the other station for the short journey to Hong Kong. Arrive Hong Kong and included transfer to your hotel.
