Today we explore the heart of Beijing including the vast Tiananmen Square where Chairman Mao’s tomb is located. Dominating the city’s heart is the Forbidden City, a centre of power for five centuries and seat of the emperors. Entering through the Gate of Heavenly Peace, we enjoy a guided walk of this old city within a city.
Today we drive out of the city to Badaling, where we can walk a section of the Great Wall. Some sections are fairly steep, but the walk on the vast wall is one of those ‘must do’ experiences! We visit the tombs of the Ming emperors and a cloisonne workshop, where we’ll see firsthand the unique Chinese art of combining copper and enamel.
We have a guided visit to the Silk Alley markets and the Summer Palace with its UNESCO-listed imperial gardens, located on Kunming Lake. Overnight train to Xi’an.
Discovered in 1974 by local farmers digging a well, the 2,200 year old Terracotta Warriors comprise more than 7,000 life-sized soldiers standing battle-ready in excavated pits under the cover of a modern protective hanger. Today, we visit the archaeological site of the Terracotta Warriors, Huanqing Hot Springs and a workshop where clay warrior replicas are made.
Today, we visit the city symbol, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, before enjoying a leisurely bike ride on Xi’an’s medieval City Wall, which dates from the Ming dynasty. We then visit the local Muslim Quarter and Great Mosque. Following this we will transfer you to the train station for the overnight train to Chengdu.
Today we tour Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding a short drive out of town. Afterwards, visit the Wuhou Memorial Temple, the Tomb of Wang Jian and Jinli Lu street - part of the old city where open air theatre and Sichuan Opera are performed in the evening. Overnight - Chengdu.
Morning flight to Kunming. Arriving here our local team will meet you and take you out to enjoy an excursion to Kunming Flower and Bird market and two city landmarks the Jinma and Biji Archway. Evening at leisure.
Today we take an excursion to Stone Forest. Celebrated as a natural wonder. As you stroll along the winding paths and lookout points, you’ll be in awe of the bizaare, tightly packed formations of almost ‘petrified’ stone that forms this unusual attraction 120 km from Kunming. Tonight catch the overnight sleeper train to Lijiang.
Arriving into Lijiang and onward transfer to your hotel. Enjoy a full day exploring the Yuanshan Terrace(By chairlift) on the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain after enjoy visits to the Jade water vilage, Baisha Mural, Baisha village, Shuhe Old Town area. Evening at leisure.
Today we head to Lion Hill, Wangu Tower, Black Dragon Pool and Sifang Street.
We will transfer you to the airport for the flight to Shanghai, via Chengdu. On arrival in Shanghai we will transfer you to the hotel. Free time until we take you on the Evening Huangpu River Cruise & Bund City Lights In Shanghai Tour.
Enjoy a full day tour of this buzzing city. Highlights include the Jade Buddha Temple, Yuyuan Garden, Old City area, Oriental Pearl TV tower.
Travelling west, we journey to Suzhou in Jiangsu Province. One of China’s most charming cities, it’s fame rests on it’s waterways, and canals that are dotted with traditional bridges, houses and gardens. A cruise on the Grand Canal exposes Suzhou’s beauty. Renown for it’s silk, we also visit a silk workshop before returning to Shanghai.
We bid you farewell with a transfer to the airport in time for your flight home.
