Welcome to China! Arrival transfer from the airport to our hotel.
The Great Wall! Following a ridge of barren hills through northern China, it stretches as far as the eye can see - at least 6,700 kms. We will take you to a quieter section on the wall at Mutianyu. We then drive back down town and enjoy Kong Fu show this evening.
Today we visit the Temple of Heaven where we can enjoy some time perhaps kite flying and continue onto Summer Palace, set on Kunming Lake, to view the lavishly decorated temples, halls and courts, reconstructed in 1902. At Silk Alley, there’s a chance to indulge in a little retail therapy.
Today we visit to the famous Tiananmen Square, home to the mausoleum of Chairman Mao Tse-tung, the People’s Heroes. Followed by a visit to The Forbidden City, built between 1406 & 1420, it served as the imperial palace for the Ming & Qing dynasties. Later this evening we board our overnight train - 4 berth soft sleeper cabin (booked out for just the two of you).
We will pick you up from the train station and drive on to Dengfeng, with an afternoon visit to Shaolin Temple - built by the Emperor Hsiao-Wen in AD 477, as well as a Fu Lesson. We then take the express train to Xi'an and check you into the hotel.
Today, we'll be visiting the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, before enjoying a leisurely bike ride on Xian’s Medieval City Wall, which dates from the Ming Dynasty.
Xi’an, perhaps most famous for the discovery of Emperor Qin’s Terracotta Warriors. Discovered in 1974 by local farmers digging a well, the 2,200 year old Warriors comprise more than 7,000 life-sized soldiers. No two faces are alike. We will also visit Huanqing Hot Springs, a scenic spot in the shadow of Li Mountain and a workshop where warrior replicas are made.
We will transfer you to the airport for the flight to Guilin and on arrival, drive you on to Yangshuo and check you into the hotel.
Enjoy a morning cycling tour and explore the local markets and village. Streets in Yangshuo are well kept in the original style, presenting the simple and primitive atmosphere of the ancient town. West Street is the most exciting one that locals call the 'Global Village'. We have lunch in the village before our transfer back to Guilin. Tonight we will fly you to Shanghai and on arrival we will check you into the hotel.
Travelling west by train, we journey to Suzhou in Jiangsu Province. One of China’s most charming cities, it’s fame rests on its waterways, and canals that are dotted with traditional bridges, houses and gardens. A cruise on the Grand Canal exposes Suzhou’s beauty. Renown for its silk, we also visit a silk workshop before returning to Shanghai.
Today we bid you farewell and transfer you to the airport in time for your departure flight.
