Day at your leisure. At around 6 pm we will collect you and transfer you to the train station for the overnight train to Luoyang.
Welcome to Luoyang! Arriving in the morning our local guide will take you to the hotel. Later, we explore the UNESCO - listed 6th Century Longman Caves etched into the cliffs of the Yi River. The 1300 caves (grottoes) are adorned with 100,000 statues and images of Buddha and his disciples, carved during the Northern Wei Dynasty. Later on we tour the White Horse Temple, the first Buddhist temple in China.
This morning we visit the Peony Square to watch ballroom dancing, tai chi and sword fighting. After some free time we board the new high speed train to Xi'an (journey time approximately 2 hours). In Xi'an we have a delicious local dinner and spend the evening at leisure.
Emperor Qin’s Terracotta Warriors are reputed to be the greatest discovery of the 20th century - 7,000 life-sized clay soldiers stand ready for battle. Enjoy a full day excursion to Mt. Huashan which is located around 120 kilometers (about 75 miles) from Xian. It is famous for natural vistas of steep and narrow paths, precipitous crags and a high mountain range. The Mountain is also home to several influential Taoist temples, where many emperors of past dynasties took part in Taoist activities and sacrificed to the god of mountain
Today, we visit the city symbol, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda followed with a leisurely bike ride on Xi’an’s medieval City Wall, which dates from the Ming dynasty. We then visit the local Muslim Quarter and Great Mosque. This evening you travel by sleeper train to Shanghai.
Good morning Shanghai! Just the mere mention of ‘Shanghai’ conjures up mystery, romance and general decadence. Arrival transfer to your hotel, Later today we tour many of the city’s top spots - Yu Gardens and Bazaar- Shanghai’s finest traditional garden, the Bund, Pudong and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the Jade Buddha Temple and take a cruise including a cruise along the Huangpu River.
Today enjoy a free day or alternately opt to visit an oriental Venice via high speed train - ancient Suzhou interwoven by a series of canals and pretty waterways. We cruise on the Grand Canal at 1800km in length it's the longest canal on earth and ranks alongside the Great Wall as China’s greatest engineering achievement, and visit a silk workshop.
