Great Wall

Day 1: Beijing

Welcome to Beijing and the start of your holiday. Upon arrival you will be met by our local representatives and transferred to your accommodation. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight Beijing.

Forbidden City

Day 2: Beijing

This morning, we tour the centre of Beijing, China's magnificent capital, including the massive Tiananmen Square and the sprawling Forbidden City. Boasting some 9999 rooms, the city within a city was once the sole preserve of the Chinese emperors. This afternoon we take a rickshaw ride through the Hutongs of Beijing. Overnight - Beijing

Day 3: Beijing - Datong

Free morning, opt for a walk in the local street market located near our hotel. There are a few unusual breakfast delicacies on offer! Later we visit the Emperor's Summer Palace, set on Kunming Lake and the Silk Alley Markets. After we drive past the 2008 Olympic Stadium commonly referred to as the ‘Bird's Nest’ and Aquatic Centre before boarding our overnight sleeper train (4 berth soft sleeper cabins) to Datong. Day 4: Datong

You arrive into Datong early giving you a whole day to explore the area. Take a guided sightseeing walk around the Yungang Grottoes (some of the first and grandest of Buddhist grottoes containing intricately carved buddhas of all shapes and sizes), Huayan Temple, Nine Dragon Wall and Shanua Temple. The Nine Dragon Wall is a 600-year-old Nine-Dragon Screen made up of glazed tiles, the 50-m ceramic wall depicts a fire breathing dragon. Overnight - Datong

Day 5: Datong - Pingyao

Today you head over to the Hanging Temple and the Wood Pagoda for more sightseeing. The Hanging Temple is a sight to behold and is a structure that seriously defies gravity. Constructed on an impossibly precipitous rockface, it literally hugs the cliff. Overnight – Pingyao

Day 6: Pingyao - Xi'an

This morning enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of Pingyao. Possibly the best-preserved ancient walled city in China, charming Pingyao is a city of beauty where red lanterns sway against grey brick walls and cobbled streets lead you to imperial residences and ancient temples. Mostly off-limits to cars, the city resembles a movie-set with its buildings almost entirely from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Later today you will board your overnight Train to Xian. Overnight Sleeper Train.

Day 7: Xi'an

Arrive Xi’an and hotel check in. Later we tour the Terracotta Warrior archaeological site where some 7,000 warriors stand in battle ready position and a factory demonstrating how the warriors are crafted. Overnight Xian.

Day 8: Xi'an - Luoyang

Today we explore the UNESCO - listed 6th Century Longman Caves etched into the cliffs of the Yi River. The 1300 caves (grottoes) are adorned with 100,000 statues and images of Buddha and his disciples, carved during the Northern Wei Dynasty. Later on we tour the White Horse Temple, the first Buddhist temple in China. Overnight Luoyang

Day 9: Luoyang - Chengdu

Taking to the skies you are transferred to Zhengzhou in time for your flight to Chengdu. Upon arrival you will be met by our local representatives and transferred to your accommodation. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight Chengdu.

Day 10: Chengdu - Jiuzhaigou

This morning fly to Jiuzhaigou - a region that for centuries has been inhabited by various Tibetan and Qiang people. Tour the Huanglong Monastery - built during the reign of Ming Emperor Hongwu, it is now a place of worship for the local Tibetan, Han, Qiang and Hui people, all of which have different religious beliefs. Afterwards enjoy a relaxing stroll by the region’s famed calcium travertines. Resembling a terraced field, the travertines flow gently into a series of multi-coloured, mineral rich ponds beneath. Onward travel to Jiuzhaigou. Overnight - Jiuzhaigou

Day 11: Jiuzhaigou

Today explore the Jiuzhaigou Scenic Reserve. Located in the high Min Shan mountain range, the Jiuzhaigou reserve is renowned for its outstanding natural beauty. It’s home to densely growing conifers, broadleaf trees and of rare and endangered animal species such as takins, golden monkeys, Giant Pandas and white-lip deer. Ancient Chinese legend has it that the goddess Semo accidentally smashed her mirror here and the pieces that fell down the mountain formed beautiful lakes, streams and waterfalls. Afterwards, visits will be made to Pearl Beach Falls, Nuorilong Falls and Long Lake. The ever flowing cascade of Nuorilong spans an impressive 320 metres - making it the widest waterfall in all of China. Overnight - Jiuzhaigou

Day 12: Jiuzhaigou - Guilin

This morning you fly back to Chengdu. Where you will visit the Panda Breeding centre. Also today you will dive to Leshan to visit Dafo before boarding you flight to Guilin. Overnight Guilin.

Day 13: Guilin

This morning you pay a visit to The Reed Flute Cave Within the cave there are enchanting stalagmites, stone pillars, stele, stone curtains and stone flowers. Then we continue on to Elephant Trunk Hill Located at the confluence of the Taohua (Peach Blossom) River and the Li River, this Hill is too famous to be missed. Overnight Guilin

Day 14: Guilin

This morning your Li River cruise departs from downtown Guilin for a full days excursion.. The 90 Km Li River cruise is the centrepiece of any trip to northeastern Guangxi Province. Gorgeous Karst peaks give you surprises at each bend of the limpid river under the blue sky. Bear witness to rural China as peasants reap rice paddies, school kids and fisherman float by on bamboo rafts. After passing many world renown sights such as Elephant Trunk Hill, Pagoda Hill and more you arrive in to Yangshuo where you can explore before we take you back to Guilin. Overnight Guilin.

Day 15: Guilin

Enjoy a guided visit to Longsheng. Todays main attraction is the Dragon’s Backbone rice terraces, covering 66 square kilometres. Beginning at the base of Mount Longji, the verdant green rice fields coil around the steep mountain, layer upon layer, climbing to its summit. Where there is soil a terrace has been made. Resembling a contour map, the terraces were started back in the Yuan Dynasty by the Zhuang people and finally completed in the Qing Dynasty. Overnight Guilin.

Day 16: Guilin - Shanghai

Taking to the skies once again you are transferred to the airport in time for your flight to Shanghai. Focus your eyes on spectacular Shanghai. Perhaps, China’s most modern city, its amazing Pudong skyline is stunning. Upon arrival into Shanghai, we take a tour of the many city sights including Yuyuan Garden, Jade Buddha Temple and The Bund, with a cruise on the Huangpu River. Overnight - Shanghai

Day 17: Shanghai

Sadly you time with us has come to an end as you are transferred to the airport in time for your flight to your onward destination.
