Good morning Shanghai! Just the mere mention of ‘Shanghai’ conjures up mystery, romance and general decadence. Pre – 1949, cosmopolitan Shanghai was a magnet for seekers of wealth, idle colonialists, explorers and the dispossessed. A legacy of these heady times is Shanghai’s Bund where on and around this waterfront promenade are a vast series of grandiose pre-1949 buildings. Just across the Huangpu River is the new Shanghai, a high-tech development of gravity defying skyscrapers. Today we tour many of the city’s top spots - Yu Gardens and Bazaar- Shanghai’s finest traditional garden, the Bund, Pudong and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the Jade Buddha Temple and the Old City.
We take a day trip to Suzhou today and visit the Humble Administrators Gardens and enjoy a boat ride on the Grand Canal. Suzhou, a 2,500-year-old cultural city is located in the south of Jiangsu, a province which hugs the coast south of Shandong province in an area of rivers that crisscross the Yangtze River Delta of southeastern China. A sort of oriental Venice, boats bob along waterways interwoven with small, yet handsome bridges that run parallel to the streets and traditional houses built along them. Suzhou’s waterways link with the Grand Canal, located to the west of the city.
Enjoy Shanghai your way today. Later you are transferred to the train station for the overnight train to Xi'an.

Upon arrival in Beijing you are met and transferred to your hotel. Later we take a guided sightseeing tour of the nation’s capital. Tiananmen Square is essentially the heart of Beijing. Heading back a few centuries we step into the Forbidden City, the walled city of the former Chinese emperors. This afternoon we take rickshaws to explore the Hutongs of Beijing.
