Great Wall

Day 1: Beijing

Huan ying, welcome to China and the start of your exclusive journey through the Orient! When you arrive into Beijing Airport, you will see our friendly local team awaiting to drive you to your hotel. Your hotel is only 15 mins walk from the square and many restaurants along the way so head out and stretch your legs after the long flight.

Forbidden City

Day 2: Beijing

This morning, we tour the centre of Beijing including the massive Tian'anmen Square and the sprawling Forbidden City. Boasting some 9999 rooms, the city within a city was once the sole preserve of the Chinese emperors. This afternoon enjoy a thrilling rickshaw ride through the Hutongs of Beijing to see the traditional way of life that is maintained in a fast modernising city.

Day 3: Beijing

Today, we drive beyond Beijing to Mutianyu and walk a section of the famous Great Wall. Built in the Ming Dynasty, a 6m wide pathway makes a formidable defence, following the highest contours of a steep range of hills. We return to Beijing by around 4 pm - 5 pm with aching legs and plenty of fantastic memories.

Day 4: Beijing - Xi'an

This morning enjoy a visit to the Temple of Heaven which starts with a walk through the park where you see locals doing there morning Tai Chi, Yoga and the like. This is followed by a visit the Emperor's Summer Palace, set on Kunming Lake and the gargantuan Silk Alley Markets. Later we take a drive past the 2008 Olympic stadium commonly referred to as the ‘birdsnest’ and aquatic centre en-route to boarding our overnight sleeper train to Xi'an.

Day 5: Xi'an

Arriving this morning into Xi'an meet with our local team who are waiting for you at the station. Later after settling into your hotel we tour the Terracotta Warrior archaeological site where some 7,000 warriors stand in battle ready position and a factory demonstrating how the warriors are crafted.

Day 6: Xi'an - Chengdu

Today we explore the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and thereafter take a fun bicycle ride or walk along Xi’an 9 mile in length, medieval City Wall. Enjoy a bit of free time in the afternoon before your transfer to the station for the sleeper train to Chengdu.

Day 7: Chengdu

Enjoy the passing scenery this morning as your train makes it's way to your next port of call. Arriving at 11:03 am, we will collect you and transfer you to your hotel. This afternoon gain a greater understanding of Tibetan Culture with a visit to the Tibetan quarter, south of the city, frequented by very few tourists and well worth the visit.

Day 8: Chengdu - Emei Shan

This morning we pay a visit to the world renowned Panda Sanctuary before a drive to Leshan, where our morning is spent exploring the the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Dafo (Great Buddha), which is carved into the red sandstone face of Lingyun Hill overlooking the treacherous confluence of the Min, Qingyi and Dadu rivers below it. Arriving we go up by cable car to the top and check into your hotel. Overnight - Jinding Hotel.

Day 9: Emei Shan

Enjoy a walking tour of Mt Emei area the highlight is the magnificent Wannian temple. Your guide will take you on interesting walks to view the scenery.

Day 10: Emei Shan - Yangtze & Three Gorges

We return back down by cable car then drive to Chengdu. Our guide will assist you in catching the train to Chongqing. Arriving here, and your guide will take you to embark the ship after dinner in a good city restaurant.

Days 11-12: Yangtze & Three Gorges

Good morning from the River Yangtze! At 6340km in length, the Yangtze is the 3rd longest river in the world, neatly dividing China into north and south, and wending its way through eight very different provinces. Enjoy spectacular vistas over the next days passing the gorges and whilst cruising, shore excursions are offered at no additional expense to Shibaozhai and Shennong stream, with its unique scenery and four natural gorges. Drift serenely along the stream in small, open ‘pea pod boats’, looking out upon lush greenery, jagged peaks and ancient villages of the Tujia people - one of the local ethnic minorities.

Day 13: Yangtze & Three Gorges - Kunming

Disembarking from our cruise after lunch we transfer to the airport and fly to Kunming. Arrival transfer to your hotel. Overnight - Champagne Union Gold Hotel Service Mountain.

Day 14: Kunming - Lijiang

Morning flight to Lijiang. Arrival and enjoy a day excursion to the stunning Jade Dragon Snow Mountain; its landscape includes one of the southernmost glaciers in the modern world. Shanzidou, the main peak of the mountain at 18,000 feet above sea level, looks like a gigantic dragon clad in white snow all year round.

Day 15: Lijiang

Today you discover Tiger Leaping Gorge (Hutiao Xia). Some 16km long and up to 3000m deep, it is the worlds deepest canyon. The gorge is so narrow at various points that legend has it a tiger once escaped pursuit by leaping across. visiting the gorge, you’ll have a chance to hike along a section of the stunning gorge and take in the dramatic, yet stark scenery.

Day 16: Lijiang - Guilin

Enjoy a visit to the Dayan Old Town and Yufengsi Lamasery. We return to Lijiang airport and fly to Guilin. Arrival transfer to your hotel.

Day 17: Guilin - Yangshuo

This morning your Li River cruise departs from downtown Guilin for a full days excursion. The 90 Km Li River cruise is the centerpiece of any trip to northeastern Guangxi Province. Gorgeous Karst peaks give you surprises at each bend of the limpid river under the blue sky. Bear witness to rural China as peasants reap rice paddies, school kids and fisherman float by on bamboo rafts. After passing many world renown sights such as Elephant Trunk Hill, Pagoda Hill and more you arrive in to Yangshuo where you will be met and taken to your hotel.

Day 18: Yangshuo

Enjoy a free day to explore this wonderful rural area of China you can rent bikes and cycle to nearby villages or go for a walk.

Day 19: Yangshuo - Guilin

This morning we drive to Longsheng. Here, we explore the rice terraces of the Dragon’s Backbone! Beginning at the base of Mt Longji the verdant green rice fields coil the steep mountain layer upon layer climbing to its summit. Where there is soil a terrace has been made! Taking a walk along the stone paths no more than a metre wide, we climb skyward to enjoy panoramic views of the ribbon like terraces with picturesque valleys and meandering streams below. When ready we make our way to Guilin and check into your hotel.

Day 20: Guilin - Shanghai

This morning you pay a visit to The Reed Flute Cave where there are enchanting stalagmites, stone pillars, stele, stone curtains and stone flowers. Then, we continue on to Elephant Trunk Hill Located at the confluence of the Taohua (Peach Blossom) River and the Li River, this Hill is too famous to be missed. After, we set off to the airport for your flight to Shanghai.

Days 21-22: Shanghai

Today and tomorrow are free for you to explore the city your own way. Perhaps visit the Oriental Pearl TV tower, the Jade Buddha Temple, French Quarter, The Bund or the Old City.

Day 23: Shanghai

Sadly your journey has come to an end, we will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight home.
