Great Wall

Day 1: Beijing

Huan ying, welcome to China and the start of your journey of a life time through the Orient! When you arrive at Beijing airport our local guide and driver await to transfer you to your hotel. The remainder of today is at your leisure.

Forbidden City

Day 2: Beijing

This morning, we tour the centre of Beijing, China's magnificent capital, including the massive Tiananmen Square and the sprawling Forbidden City. Boasting some 9999 rooms, the city within a city was once the sole preserve of the Chinese emperors. Later in the afternoon you can opt to see the Hutongs of Beijing by Rickshaw? Day 3: Beijing

Today, drive to Badaling, where we can walk on a section of the famous Great Wall. A symbol of total Chinese genius, the Great Wall is a cultural icon. At least 20 dynasties were involved in its construction. Stretching some 6700 kilometres, we walk along just a small chunk of this massive masterpiece of human endeavour. Later we visit a cloisonne workshop, viewing the step-by-step process of this curious, yet quite beautiful art form. Tonight you can opt to see an Acrobtaic performance? Summer Palace

Day 4: Beijing - Xi'an

At the Summer Palace on Kunming Lake, we view the lavishly decorated temples, halls and courts, reconstructed in 1902. This afternoon, even the most hardened non-shoppers can’t help coming away with a few goodies at the Silk Alley markets. Name-brand attire, bling-bling jewellery, knock-off handbags and shoes are popular acquisitions. Later we travel by train to Xi’an viewing en route the Beijing 2008 Olympic Stadium and Aquatic Centre.

Day 5: Xi'an

Xi’an is Shaanxi Province is perhaps most famous for Emperor Qin’s Terracotta Warriors. Discovered in 1974 by local farmers digging a well, the 7,000 life-sized soldiers, some 2,200 years old, stand battle-ready in excavated pits under the cover of a modern protective hanger. Day 6: Xi'an - Yangtze & Three Gorges

This morning enjoy touring the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and taking a bike ride along the great Old City Wall. Peering from the Old City Wall offers spectacular, if not unique views of the city and r residents going about their daily lives. After, fly to Chongqing, the start point for our exciting Yangtze River cruise. Before boarding the cruise the we can stroll along Chongqing’s People’s Square, in the city centre.

Days 7-8: Yangtze & Three Gorges

Good morning from the River Yangtze! At 6340km in length, the Yangtze is the 3rd longest river in the world, neatly dividing China into north and south and wending its way through eight very different provinces. Whilst cruising, shore excursions are offered at no additional expense to Shibaozhai and Shennong stream, with its unique scenery and four natural gorges. Drift serenely along the stream in small, open ‘pea pod boats’, looking out upon lush greenery, jagged peaks and ancient villages of the Tujia people - one of the local ethnic minorities.

Day 9: Yangtze & Three Gorges - Kunming

Disembarking from our cruise in Yichang at 11:30. We will drive to Wuhan and catch the 16:40 flight to Kunming. Arriving here at 18:40, our local guide will assist you to your hotel.

Day 10: Kunming

Excursion to Stone Forest. Celebrated as a natural wonder, it’s Yunnan’s most visited sight. As you stroll along the winding paths and lookout points, you'll be in awe of the bizaare, tightly packed formations of almost ‘petrified’ stone that forms this unusual attraction 120 km from Kunming.

Day 11: Kunming - Guilin

Today enjoy a morning excursion to the Kunming Flower and Bird market. After, you’ll visit the picturesque Western Hills and the Dragon Gate Grotto. Then a transfer to the airport for the evening flight to Guilin leaving at 17:50 - Arriving into Guilin at 19:15, our local team will transfer you to your hotel.

Day 12: Guilin - Yangshuo

This morning we drive to Longsheng. Here, we explore the rice terraces of the Dragon’s Backbone! Beginning at the base of Mt Longji the verdant green rice fields coil the steep mountain layer upon layer climbing to its summit. Where there is soil a terrace has been made! Taking a walk along the stone paths no more than a metre wide, we climb skyward to enjoy panoramic views of the ribbon like terraces with picturesque valleys and meandering streams below. After we drive to Yangshuo.

Day 13: Yangshuo

Enjoy a free day, Yangshuo offers a world of opportunity for exploring the great outdoors. With breath-taking beauty, striking limestone mountain scenery and pure clean rivers, one can choose to go swimming or tubing down the Yu Long River, hike or hire a bicycle or motorbike and head off on one of the many mountain trails.

Day 14: Yangshuo - Nanjing

Enjoy a morning to explore at leisure. Return to Guilin for a lovely lunch then pay a visit to The Reed Flute Cave where there are enchanting stalagmites, stone pillars, stele, stone curtains and stone flowers. Then we continue on to Elephant Trunk Hill Located at the confluence of the Taohua (Peach Blossom) River. Later off to Guilin airport for the 21:55 flight to Nanjing; Arriving at 23:40 we will transfer you to your hotel.

Day 15: Nanjing - Suzhou

Have a lie in this morning. This afternoon in Nanjing we embark on our city sightseeing tour will commence. Former capital of the Ming Dynasty and capital of Republican China, from 1911 - 1949, Nanjing holds a rich history of both ancient and modern China. This afternoon we visit the Fuzi Miao (Temple of Confucius) and the Memorial Hall of the Nanjing Massacre. A moving experience that charts the atrocities committed at this very site. After we catch one of th regular express trains to Suzhou.

Day 16: Suzhou - Shanghai

This morning explore this charming city that boasts extensive waterways and canals dotted with traditional bridges, houses and gardens. A cruise on the Grand Canal exposes Suzhou’s beauty, as does our exploration of the humble administrator’s house and garden. In the later afternoon catch the express train to Shanghai; arrival transfer to your hotel.

Day 17: Shanghai

Day 18: Shanghai

Sadly you will have to say farewell to China, we will be sure to transfer you to Shanghai airport in time for your flight home.
