Today a visit to the Wuhou Memorial Temple, the Jinsha Ruin, Jinli Old Street where we stop at a classic Chinese Tea House, Du Fu Thatched Cottage and then Kuan-zhai Lane to see the night scene that springs to life in the evening.
Today a short drive out of town takes you to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. China’s Giant Pandas are considered the most endangered mammal on the planet. The afternoon highlights include the Sanxingdui Archeological Site and Museum and the tranquil Wenshu Monastery.
An hour’s drive to the north west leads you to the ancient city of Dujiangyan. It was here, in 256 BC that provincial governor Li Bing set up the Dujiangyan Irrigation Scheme. Tour the dam site, view the Anlan Suspension Bridge and the Dragon Taming Temple. Later, we visit Qingcheng Mountain with it's gorgeous scenery, cave temples and pavilions.
Driving to Leshan our morning is spent exploring the the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Dafo (Great Buddha), which is carved into the red sandstone face of Lingyun Hill overlooking the treacherous confluence of the Min, Qingyi and Dadu rivers below it. Later we visit Huanglongxi which is an ancient town with a history of more than 1,700 years. Situated in Shuangliu County, 30 kilometers southeast from Chengdu, it is greatly admired by visitors for its beautiful natural scenery and ancient Chinese culture.
Sadly it is farewell today, we will transfer you to the Chengdu airport in time for your flight home.
