Hanging Temple

Day 1: Datong

Arriving into Datong this morning, meet up with our local expert guide. Take a guided sightseeing walk around the Yungang Grottoes (some of the first and grandest of Buddhist grottoes containing intricately carved buddhas of all shapes and sizes), Huayan Temple, Nine Dragon Wall and Shanua Temple. The Nine Dragon Wall is a 600-year-old Nine-Dragon Screen made up of glazed tiles, the 50-m ceramic wall depicts a fire breathing dragon.

Day 2: Datong - Taiyuan

Today you head over to Taiyuan and visit the Hanging Temple and the Yingxian Wood Pagoda. The Hanging Temple is a sight to behold and is a structure that seriously defies gravity. Constructed on an impossibly precipitous rock face, it literally hugs the cliff.

Day 3: Taiyuan - Pingyao

This morning we continue our journey to Pinyao. Here, spend time exploring the Jin Memorial Garden and start exploring the wonders of the famous Pingyao Old City included in the United Nations World Cultural Heritage in 1997.

Day 4: Pingyao

The full day with your guide will be spent exploring the Pingyao Ancient city.

Day 5: Pingyao

In the morning we return to Taiyuan, where we spend the morning exploring the Qiao Family Compound, a fascinating courtyard estate covering 9000 square meters and having 313 rooms with 4000 square meters within 6 large courtyards and 19 smaller courtyards. After, we drive you to the airport or train station in accordance with your onward journey.
